Hey guys, well ive been wanting to contribute something, so I looked into disassembly and just said no way. I never looked into java much, because I was into c++ for awhile, but I checked it out the other day and discovered that it is very easy to use, and its cross platform to boot. So I got started messing around with netbeans/swing, and started on a prject ive been wanting to do for awhile now. I always wanted a program that would analyze my logfiles automatically, much like airboys spreadsheet, but without the fuss. So I introduce ScoobyGraph! This program will be cross-platform compatible, and will allow you to load your datalogs and graph them out very easily. No cutting and pasting or anything of that sort.
So heres your opportunity to contribute, and let me know what log analyzing/graphing features you would like to see. Im open to all suggestions. Thanks.

Have you started coding yet? Will this be integrated with RomRaider? Stand alone? If stand alone where are you hosting the source files?
You should chat with kascade.

Sounds good. What is really needed is something simple that anyone can use. User opens the rom and log file, app does the appropriate filtering and outputs graphs that can be exported as a jpeg which the user can then post in a thread.

Sounds like a plan. yes, I have started coding. this will be a standalone for now, because I am very interested in cross-platform compatibility, as I am actually writing it on my macbook pro laptop. speaking of cross-platform, what would be involved with making a fully-functioning mac version of RomRaider. it is java, after all.

i <3 java! i only started using java a day ago, and already the project has progressed considerably. so far, ive got a functional interface, and it is able to load csv log files into a scrollable table, all in a resizable interface. cool! i have to admit, the availability of premade librarys is very nice =] i copped a csv parser and graphing library compliments of open source makes it really easy to get a working program in no time at all.

Hey guys -
If you're interested in using this to jumpstart any plotting/analysis stuff you're doing, you're more than welcome. I created a webapp to do some data plotting and simple data analysis. The webapp can be found here: http://www.waygate.net/plotter I'm sending the source to Paul and will post it on this site shortly as well.

You should take a look at EcuEdit for an idea on how a good layout for log-viewing can be done. It allows up to 9 Y points on the screen at 1 time. It allows you to set the X axes (generally RPM). Also has built in Dyno, Log overlay, etc.. I can't wait to see how your project develops!

id like to get a few different logfiles from different logging software, so i can account for the differences in the way things are layed out and such.
i have RomRaider logs, but i need you guys to upload logs from as many different ecu logging programs as possible! thanks

as it stands now, ive been pretty busy, but ive been working on stripping down the code used by RomRaider to read rom files to the bare essentials and getting it to work in scoobygraph ... so once that gets done ill work on the graphing part

i was bored at work today, and was playing with my copy of omnigraffle, and drew this diagram up. im trying to visualize the ideal user interface for this app, so i will work off this diagram. as it is, its just a basic look at how the app would work.
some of you voiced your opinion on how it should be easy for new users to make a graph to post to the forums for people to critique a tune and figure out problems. i think the graph template interface will make this fairly easy. when the app is opened, the user has the ability to either use a graph template/plugin, or to directly import any logfile or rom file they choose to graph. this would give the newbies a quick and easy way to graph, and the more advanced users a quick way to put exactly what they want on a graph.
for the general diagnostics graph template, the app would require a logfile with data columns we have determined would be most useful for the forum members to view and diagnose problems with tunes of new users. for example, the boost view would require manifold rel. pressure, TD continuous, boost error, rpm of course, etc. timing view would require the the total timing, rpm, kc, etc.
other plugins/templates like the road dyno would require speed, rpm inputs and would ask the user to plug in weight and other values, and would create a road dyno graph.
the knock correction template would require timing and kc from a logfile, and the current rom to pull the timing tables to compare, and show exactly where and how much timing is being pulled.
and of course, these options can be used at any time, so the user could create a road dyno graph, then use the logfile import to select boost from the same file and overlay thay onto the graph.
i also thought up the autograph feature, which would scan a selected directory every few seconds for new logfiles, and would use preset settings to overlay the new data onto the current graph. so you could immediately see power increase after a run with the road dyno, overlayed onto your power curve from a previous run.
suggestions/comments?

Good plan. Code it up! I am not fond of Excel for stuff like this, I'd much rather have a small/fast/simple standalone tool to just get the job done.
