I'll post my latest test releases as I make them. There is nothing ever scheduled for release, just when I feel like it. Not everything is tested or known to work well. :)

Updates:
7/19/07: Posted initial mac build. Error in logger as it reports that a port is in use when its not. Cannot connect to ecu. Also, I cant upload the build for some reason. I hope this link hold out.

I'll get working what I can with the Mac at some point. I just wanted a placeholder thread.

Agreed - Mac would be very helpful. :)

Question - if this is java, shouldn't it be platform independent?

Drivers are the issue with the mac. FTDI drivers have not worked yet on my mac, so no logging.

EDIT: English ftmfw

Um, You can log with the tty interface. It works well. Look at at libmut.

I gave up after trying the FTDI drivers and stuck to my windows VM. I'll check that out. Any other info?

By default, a lot of linux distributions will link the java executable to the GCJ one that comes with Open Office (doesn't exactly work...kinda, but not exactly), not the Sun java executible (ubuntu does if you just type 'java' in a shell). In order to make this tarball work, I had to create a bash script as follows:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
cd /home/rich/Desktop/RomRaider_Linux/
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java \
-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib -Xmx256M \
-jar /home/rich/Desktop/RomRaider_Linux/RomRaider.jar

You have to modify your paths (i.e. if you untarred it in your home directory, /home/me/RomRaider, and if your Sun java executible is located elsewhere, you can probably find it using 'slocate jre/bin/java' and finding the one with sun in the path) to suit your install, but that will make it easy to launch. Don't forget to copy librxtxSerial.so from the libs folder to *sun java root*/jre/lib/i386/ and RXTXcomm.jar to *sun java root*/jre/lib/ext/, and make sure your user is in the uucp or lock group!

Tgui. I have a version of the FTDI drivers that work with my mac and recognize both the 1.3M and 1.3S (1.3M thanks to donour) versions of the openport cable (but not 1.3U I don't have the PID/VID) If you want it, let me know! I tried the linux build (.jre) of RomRaider, and it recognizes the openport cable now, but it can't actually sent the ECU init for some reason. If you had a working cable maybe you could get the java stuff working for mac! You'd win a prize!!

Is there a difference between the 2 packages you posted, or is it just a browser acting up? :)

Tgui,

I got the linux build running fine on my Mac, the problem now is getting it to connect to the ECU. How does the datalogger handle device driver requests? Is there a way to directly point it to the correct driver to use? Im using the same method to make my own driver for my cable using the FTDI drivers, but I am not sure if the data logger is looking at the driver I made.

Well, I got something running. I can see that the tactrix cable is attached through the list of serial ports available in the logger pull down. Problem is I get the following, repeating.

Code:
22408 INFO  [Thread-3] - Error sending ecu init: Unable to resolve port: COM4
23409 INFO  [Thread-3] - Error sending ecu init: Unable to resolve port: COM4
25038 INFO  [Thread-4] - Error sending ecu init: Port is currently in use: /dev/tty.usbserial-TX45b7tf
26038 INFO  [Thread-4] - Error sending ecu init: Port is currently in use: /dev/tty.usbserial-TX45b7tf

I'll post my mac build in the first post.

hmm there is nothing listed under the com selection for me. Ill try your build tonight and see what happens. I need to know how to point the driver that I created for my cable to RomRaider though. Whats the flag to get it to log outputs in the terminal again?

If you open a terminal and "./RomRaider.bat" errors should then appear.

jsnuff1 - I haven't even bothered with the Mac (I have a macbook pro dual booted w/linux, and I find I have booted into OS X about 4 times in the past 6 months), so I wouldn't be able to help you there...but get any linux live CD with a kernel > 2.6.19, use the package manager to install Sun JRE6, then launch RomRaider with a script similar to above. If it is a newer Intel Mac you are using, you will need to download rEFIt. Just google 'refit', it should be at the top. That should be less painful than adding customized drivers to Mac OS X.
