Whatever happened with the development discussed in the thread at http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic498-15.html in the Testing forum? If I could've given that thread a 1-year bump, I would have. :)
But I'm not allowed to post in that forum.

Why did you start another editor? Any details about it?

probably for much the same reasons others started theirs. no one except a select few had any idea what was happening with enginuity, er i mean romraider. there was no estimate of a return date, the source repository was gone and i have had many ideas for new and improved features, etc. In addition to this, the existing code base can be hard to work with and contains too many unfinished spikes to allow proper integration of these ideas. i was only left with one option and that was to start my own.

no nothing besides romraider def compatibility and mitsubishi support. it has been designed in the vain of an enhanced romraider with many enhancements. still in the early stages.

Sounds good. If you are really early in the design process, I would go with Ecuflash xml format over RomRaider. It is much more efficient (the only thing I don't like about it are the min/max cell coloring which I would omit).

EDIT: actually it would be easy for me to update my XML converter (which I wrote to convert my Enginuity defs to Ecuflash) to add yours if you would wanted to go a completely different direction.

I haven't looked at the ecuflash defs in any detail but i like that it splits separate ecu defs into separate files. i plan to add support for ecuflash defs as well.

As for a new format, I reckon you'd be the best person to define a new def format as you are so familiar with them. I've actually pretty much finished the enginuity def parsing and can load and view roms from it and yes i agree it isn't the most efficient stuff to parse especially when looking up the correct rom and taking care of inheritance etc.

We should probably take this offline as I'm not sure here is the best place to discuss it but feel free to let me know if you have any specific ideas on a better format.
