Have you set your Macro Security level to "medium"? I don't have Excel 2007 but all versions require changing the security settings to run the macros in the spreadsheet.

The Timing tables (Base and Advance) are used by the ECU to determine how much timing to run at any particular RPM and air flow (Engine Load). If you logged RPM and Engine Load and then use the interpolation function, the highlighted cells are those used to calculate the ignition timing that the ecu would use if there is no knock related timing retard.

The highlighted cells doesn't tell you how much to change, only which cells you would need to change if you want to, based on other information in your data log.

Alrite thanks for clearing that up for me. Thats how I thought it worked but wasn't completly sure. Thanks for this spreadsheet as it is very helpful.

Great work, thank you so much, Airboy!
However, I have several issues which I can't fugure out myself:
1. For some reason I cant get a Dyno Plot.. it stays empty, after I have Calculated acceleration on Calc sheet.
2. My dyno on accel sheet looks like upsidedown arc.. TQ and HP, both.. I've tried to use Micey'd spreadsheet for 5EAT cars, but still getting the same result.
Any ideas what may be wrong?

Thanks!

The current spreadsheet hosted here converts RPM to mph and then calculates the acceleration from that. You also need to filter the data to include only 100% throttle data in a single gear (3rd for most cars). Maximize data sampling rate by logging 2 or 3 items.

So it looks like the Accel info you have for the 08 STI is 3rd gear. From what I can see, and what google tells me, the 08 has the same gear ratios as the 07, so 1.137 for 4th gear should be right, I think. Also, where did you get the final drive ratio?

The reason I ask is because putting in my 4th gear logs as it is gets me extremely low numbers, which I know are wrong.(192HP, really?) If I change the gear ratio to 1.137 and leave the final drive in place, the number gets really inflated. Can someone confirm the correct information? The curb weight is also a little high from what I've been seeing.

Updated version (4p0w2). A couple of people have reported that the plotting function would not work properly (everything bunched up). It had to do with Excel (some versions) not saving the chart "type" associated with the chart in "Plots" and defaulting to something else other than x-y scatter.

For 08 STi, the default gearing info is 3rd gear. I get the info from cars101.com. if you want, you can post the log that you are using and I will have a look. I ran some logs for a stock 08STi and it came out to ~215HP (I am at 3500+ feet elevation).

Airboy, the info used for caclulating accel for "02 ADM Sti (3rd)" is actually for 4th gear ;)

The correct details are as follows if you want to add it to the next version:
Code:
Model             weight   wheel dia   gear ratio   final   eng:spd   Crr     Cd   Area
02 ADM Sti (3rd)   3153      24.97       1.761       3.9     92.45   0.015   0.33   22
02 ADM Sti (4th)   3153      24.97       1.346       3.9     70.66   0.015   0.33   22

So for the final gear ratio, what's the difference between the front and rear? cars101 says:
Front final gear ratio: 3.9
Rear final gear ratio: 3.545

Also, attaching a log file. It says I'm running 352HP and 360TQ in 4th gear(1.137 ratio), with smoothing set to 5. Elevation is somewhere around 950ft, air temp was 58F or so, and humidity 60%. For the weight, I'm not too sure. I had a bunch of stuff in the car with me. I weigh roughly 190lbs, and all the stuff I had with me probably weighed another 75-100lbs.

Use the 3.9 number for final drive. IIRC, there is another reduction (1.1:1) for the rear shaft in the transmission. With 3.9 final drive and stock wheel size, it comes out to ~300ft-lb and 28xHP. Looks reasonable for the airflow numbers (~280g/s). What are your mods?

As far as power, just a downpipe, K&N air filter and a road tune. Everything else was suspension and bushings for the transmission, rear subframe, and center diff.

Nice update. I like the timing total functions.
