I appreciate the offer, however I am back to my full time job until November which means I have no time to play :( Maybe a summer of thinking about things will allow me to come up with a way to fix it come November.

Just found this thread :D
I can't find where the Group-n rom file (hex, bin) is hosted for download! (I only found a definition file at the first page).
After reading through the whole thread, it seems that the CEL is the only current issue with this rom (which is no big deal).
I'd really like to give it shot with my 01 JDM STi :)

Look in the ecu analysis section under the anti lag support thread on page 2. The stock rom is posted there.

Just found it on page 4.
I opened it with romraider to compare the ignition/fueling to the stock rom & found that the scaling of the tables is different, stock has 'engine load (g/rev)' for x-axis while group-n has 'manifold pressure (bar absolute)!
Do I need to insert the definition file into ecuflash in order to be able to flash it into my ecu?

Any precautions when operating this rom? to my knowledge knock control (FBKC/FLKC) is working fine with this rom, correct?

This rom is speed density so it figures load differently for fueling than maf based fueling.
Only fbkc is active on this rom. It works similar to the way knock control on a utec works.
Most of the info you are looking for has been discussed in the tuning forum in the thread titled "New definitions released launch control". It should still be a few pages back in the tuning forum.
I also have a group n rom I tuned on a usdm wrx posted in the wrx base maps section, and I started a group n thread in the tuning section for every one to share info so post there if you have more questions about tuning the rom.

Happy reading, there are a lot of pages with good info through out.

So in terms of knock protection it's not that bad?
Just a couple of questions before I start my readings, beside the extra features (LC/ALS) does it bring any improvement in performance over the stock JDM ecu (aggressive timing/leaner fuel...etc)?
Since it's written with 32mm restrictor in mind, how is possible to adjust it so it would work with an unrestricted turbo charger?
Thanks for the information

Just start reading, Most of those answers are there. If you want to try the rom I will be glad to help you set up a rom to get you started.

That would be great & I would really appreciate it :D
I've been working on EVOs' roms for some time now but as for Subarus' it's uncharted territory for me!

I'm excited about this group-n rom for mainly two reasons:
-The prospect of overall increased performance, judging from posts by people whom actually did try it.
-Anti lag, which I thought impossible to get using the stock ecu (especially a 16bit!) .

I have two cars that I can try the rom on, an 01 EDM WRX rom id (A4SE700D) & an 01/02 JDM STi rom id (A4SDA00Q).

With the little that I know thus far, I know that prior to flashing the rom I'd need to 1-adjust ignition dwell (decrease the values) so it would be suitable to black coil. 2-set up all the KC tables in order to enable KC

Has there been any update on additional or revised defs for this ecu to alow a switch to turn on and off features?

Nice Bill. So are you moving to Austin? I'm still on the fence whether or not I will apply there. I met Trey on Saturday.

I have Spec C, I have IAT in the intake manifold, wired in
the ECU as far as I know... do you guys know if the pins have to be
switched so that the manifold IAT goes into the pin used for MAF IAT?
Or, the GrN knows the right pin for manifold IAT and looks there for
references?

any way to compare the logic to usual MAF roms?

Actually what would be good, is if someone would go through the rom and check if there is another “air temp” table that is using the IAT in the JDM manifold and that table be added to a def. Or if it is being ignored in the stock rom.
If I am not mistaken, the actual Grp_N ecu has a “jumper” wire inside from the pin that is hooked up to the manifold IAT sensor to the MAF based IAT pin. But i cant’ remember now, I saw that ECU long time ago.

Yep, I can confirm the GrpN ecu has the MAF Temp sensor disconnected internally and in it's place the manifold / plenum IAT sensor jumpered to it's circuit board track. I think this might be possible to do externally too, I have the jdm wiring manual if you need a copy.

So technically I can install a switch that would repin the input from manifold IAT on MAF's input right?

ckibue, can you confirm pin D14 in the 31 pin ECU connector is the manifold sensor, and B27 in the 28 pin connector is the signal from the MAF's air temp sensor? So D14 wire has to be repined to B27?

Yes, that's correct, see attached wiring schematic pages 6 and 9, the switch sounds like a good idea.
