Just figured I'd share. Some of you may remember me from years back.

Had the ej205 record for a while 11.75 @ 119mph on a homebuilt holset setup - 02 wrx wagon
Ended up a best trap of 129mph on a budget 2.0 motor running carberry SD / Super HX40
Sold that, sold my custom homebuilt s366 duramax... and got my pilot's license. Got away from cars for a while....

Flying is what I always wanted to do.. and it turns out it's all I imagined and more. But I still love cars, fabricating turbo setups, tuning etc. So I went to the dark side and bought an evo. Wasn't going to do that much.... but that didn't last long  Important mods in my sig, plus some other little stuff. It runs pretty well... the driveline in these cars is very tough, but the rest of the car is lacking. Subaru's are "nicer" cars hand down.. and I haven't been overly impressed with certain things on the evo (alternator died, air conditioning pump died etc. constant little issues....) But evo's can make more power easier, and handle more power before engine/transmission upgrades are required. It's a trade off.

Tuning wise it's very similar to a subaru. Uses ECUflash... there are some differences.. overall subaru ecus offer a little more to work with when it comes to the little things.. but all evo's can be switched to SD on the factory ECU which is a plus.

Dyno is a couple 3rd gear pulls and a 4th gear pull where it really loads it. After going with the 2.4, I wouldn't do it again. It just won't make the power the 2.0 will... torque and spool, sure... I have boost tapering upwards to keep torque down! The driveline and clutch is happier that way. The 2.4 is nice for daily driving in some aspects.. but it's also buzzy and vibrates. I had to run a twin disc, because the larger disc on a single disc clutch won't release above 6k rpms (at all). It happens to longer stroke motors with no balance shafts.

Can see the setup I built here

Quick 3rd gear pull on a warm day

yes... that hood dump on the wg will nearly make your ears bleed....

4th pull from low rpm.. setup to have boost and timing get more aggressive as it revs out.. you can see that hear.. starts out meh, and starts really pulling as it revs...

Anyway... got a hold of a subaru again (05 fxt), so I figured it was time to come back here and see whats new

nice zenith :) ch750?

Careful though, next thing you'll be wanting bigger tires and more motor with it. I've got another expensive hobby too, plane is dads but I get seat time! Unfortunately for me I'm not current ATM and need to do my bi-annual. Waiting to get endorsed in the stearman and do it all at once. I've been looking around at a 7gcbc or pa-18 lately but I think buying one is a ways out yet  Also the old POS in the foreground is what's sucking money away from subaru parts! I think that girl's getting new rear suspension this summer. Not nearly as fast as my '14 but it's a lot more fun to cruise in.
