Hi all,

I have just spent the best part of my evening installing RomRaider on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS equipped Dell D620 Laptop.

I followed a first link to installing on Linux which was wholly over dimensioned and probably wasted the most time. I thought it would be useful to describe the process I used for reference in case the next person like me is searching for the answer. Apologies if this is described elsewhere, or if it seems like common sense to the more IT minded in the community.

1. Install latest Java environment by copying the following command into terminal (CTRL+ALT+T to open terminal)

sudo apt-get install default-jre

2. Download RomRaider for linux

3. Make package exectuable by right clicking then Properties>Permissions and select option to Allow executing file as a program

4. Right click on the downloaded RomRaider.jar file and choose to open with Java.

Thats it. No complicated terminal commands are required.

Now I am just waiting until my Tactrix Openport 2.0 arrives and I will be back to hunt down some good cals.

For interest I have a JDM Spec B Legacy 2.0 Twin Scroll Turbo (280ps). I hope to check then up the boost from the current 0.8 BAR boost I am seeing on my Defi to around a bar. I think the ROM is A2ZJD01B.

The Openport 2 is not supported on the Linux platform as there are no drivers available. Your only option for logging is a VAG-COM KKL cable. It should be based on a Linux supported chipset such as FTDI and appears a serial dev port. You will need to give your user ID permissions to the group the serial device falls under.

Thats not good news.

What is the likelyhood of anyone working on the drivers?

My other option will be to install windows on a little sony Vaio I have.

Out of interest, where is the information that suggests that the Tactrix will not work with Linux? I dont see it on their website, or on this site (I am sure it is here somehwere). It would have saved me a few hours yesterday if I had known.

There's probably no demand for Linux drivers since J2534 is spec'd for Windows 32 bit systems only.
