I was just wondering what turbo the new 06 WRXs have. I can't find anything about it but I can't imagine they'd still be using a TD04 on the 2.5l. Anyone?

They do have a TD04 on the 2.5. Lots of torque and then it runs out of steam quickly. Clark from Kingpin tuned a setup like this before the 06's were out. There was an external wastegate on it which helped with the EGBP, but he did say it was one of the most fun setups he ever drove IIRC.

Huh. It must hate to rev, then. I'm anxious to get the definitions worked out now, so I can take a look at the boost maps. Must be tapering down at about 4500rpm.

wow! an external wastegate? MikeB (my crew chief) and I were discussing converting the VF22's internal wastegate into external - sounds like the benefit is great to definitely consider...

Did you take a look at his dyno? It should help on any turbo.

let me know how that goes and if you could document it, I can make it into a "how-to" document and post it on our site...

Where are you planning on putting the gate?
