Hello all,

Just getting started here and am having some issues. Thought I would do some logging to start understanding the whole ECU.

When I start Romraider it says the cars_def files aren't there. I have reinstalled them twice to no avail. regardless, I can say no to the internet update. It gives me a fault saying that the car def is not present and I will not be able to dyno. No problem, I OK that. Now when I connect to the ECU I get a whole different list of parameters than what I had before connecting. The connected list is very limited.

I get a P0420 code every now and then so I though I would use this to learn what is happening. When I connect I loose the rear O2 sensor parameter. Which is where I thought I would start to check the cats.

The bottom of the screen lists my ECU ID as 2F1A357106 which doesn't seem to follow the standard ECU labeling. Thoughts?

My specific ECU is not supported yet by Romraider yet is by Tactrix. Do I need to download a copy of the ECU for defining the definitions file?

I appreciate the time, I have been searching the last few days and have missed if these problems were answered elsewhere.

Thanks

without all the definitions in place the logger doesn't know how to query the car for data - are you 100% installing them into the right folders after you download? Also don't forget to go into romraider and setup the definitions afterwards.

You should have a cars_def.xml and cars_def.dtd as well as ecu_defs.xml and ecu_defs.dtd - what all have you got in there?

I suggest that you follow that link to the Internet post and read the instructions about the cars_def and where you should store it. This will eliminate the warning message.

The parameter list displayed when you start the logger is a generic list of all known parameters, once the Logger connects to the ECU the ECU reports back which parameters it can support, therefore everything unsupported is removed from the list.

This is the ECU ID as reported by your car's ECU to the Logger. It might be an early revision of the ROM for this ECU, viewtopic.php?t=9053 I'll check later.

If the ECU can be upgraded to a supported version then that's the best option, otherwise you need to post the ROM you downloaded with EcuFlash so a definition can be created.

Thanks for the insight.

I have not seen the .dtd files of either of the car_def or ecu_def files so that may be my problem.

Let me start with that. I have followed the instruction at the link, which and very well written and defined, so let me give it another shot.

Thanks.
