Morning fella's, figured i would share since there aren't many threads on tablets.

Recently got an insignia 8" tablet to replace my old old acer laptop which was clinging to life by a thread for years. Probably just needs a format and a fresh install of windows but I'm pretty weak with windows so I kind of avoided it. Plus then I don't have a reason to try a tablet

One thread that stood out here is a gentlemen set up a TW700 on a window mount for flashing and logging. That was my dream! But I'm from canada and I could only seem to find those winbooks in the states. Unsure if I could get it to work (like I said, I'm pretty bleh with windows.) I wanted to buy something locally I could return if I couldn't figure it out.
So bestbuy had these little insignia 8 tablets on sale for $130.00 (canadian). Pre-loaded with windows 8.1, micro usb slot, micro hdmi and a micro sd slot. 1.3ghz quad core, 1gb of ram, 32gb of internal storage.
Being a samsung guy this tablet is pretty weak sauce as far as quality goes, it flexes at an alarming rate, but fortunately the cheap plastic screen allows for some pretty good movement :| lol
I had to install Java 8 update 60 before romraider would work. That was the easy part, shortly after I could tweak my tunes on the couch while watching tv.
Then the next hurdle was getting it to connect to the car. Being that the tablet only has a micro usb slot my first assumption was perhaps my otg adapter wasn't good quality, I tried another connector with no luck.
Turns out you have to disable windows firewall, windows defender and also turn user account control settings down to never notify. Windows firewall seems to have turned its self back on and its still able to connect to my cars ecu, so it must be the other two which are important to disable.
To view my logs in an organized manner I wasnt willing to purchase excel and word/notepad were too chaotic. So I found a company called kingsoft which has a free version of their spread sheet, very similar to excel they just have a few pop ups requesting a share on facebook to promote their company. Works like a charm.

Battery life isn't amazing, they say it will last 4-5 hours so its much better then my old laptop which had a new battery and would maybe go 2.5-3 hours.

Once I make some sort of dash mount I'll be golden. So far I'm very pleased with it! Runs pretty smooth, doesn't take any longer to load a tune in romraider vs my old laptop which I was kind of surprised about since it doesn't have standard super smart phone specs which have totally desensitized me.
Flashing is quick and smooth.
And my favorite part! My old laptop would disconnect after a few minutes of logging. Then I would have to shut romraider down, disconnect and reconnect the usb and restart romraider. I don't know what it was, I'm sure it was just a setting I wasn't smart enough to find, but this one will log until you stop it. Even if I turn the screen off and turn it back on it reconnects instantly.
So there's a cheap option if anyone is interested in a tablet.

How is the GUI to use? Easy to click cells and change things? interpolate, multiply etc.?

If a guy wasnt planning on a dash mount, I would say go for a 10" model since everything is pretty tiny on here. The touch on this obviously isnt as nice as an android phone or something, but after calibrating the touch input its honestly not too bad. I can navigate romraider easily, the one thing that was pretty frustrating at first was the logger. Selecting new items to log was kind of difficult since the check boxes are so small. But I've gotten used to it and it doesn't really bug me now that I kind of know the screen better.

You can use the tablet enhancement added to the latest release which provides a bit more restate for buttons, etc to the Logger.

Thought I would update this since its been over half a year. I'm still using the tablet, but specifically for logging/dash gauges.
I started having troubles with uploading a tune, I would get a CRC read error every other time I flashed. After a few big warning messages from failed attempts I decided to stop tempting fate and now I just use a laptop for flashing.
