i have started using it more myself to analyse maps but to be useful had to replace the background image with a single white pixel image - can this be incorporated in future releases? shall i just do it myself?
sorry for all the questions, i just think this has more potential but it seems to be dead in the water at the moment.
I've been busy with some utec code for selfish reasons.
Its not dead I'll start adding requests to the first post and start playing with it again next week.

Paul -- you can just delete the background image and it'll display a white background. I think it'd be best just to remove it though. You can do it or someone else can, doesn't really matter. I think a user selectable background color owuld be best.
Bill - I've had troubles with the 3d rendering speed off and on, but I don't really use it so never investigated. Performance seems to be highly dependent on your video drivers. At one point it was working flawlessly, and now its back to less than one frame per second while moving the image.
At one point, Tgui and I discussed rendering it in software without the need for 3d drivers. Given the small number of polygons it shouldn't really be required, but neither of us have really looked in to it yet.
Also, Paul, since the 3d image is a heavyweight component, there isn't a whole lot we can do with it at the moment. I don't know the link off hand, but there was an API that buffered the image on an invisible panel and displayed it on a lightweight component we will be able to add to a JTabbedPane in the future. I'll do some digging and see if I can find it.

Yeah, I briefly looked into the lightweight canvas. I need to do more digging also.

glad to hear it's still alive
i guess full integration isn't really super important at the moment anyway, the separate window works fine for what i want currently. what would be more useful (besides some speed improvement) is easier controls to rotate the image without it going off at a weird angle with the mouse. takes a bit of practice to get the thing under control. maybe they're already there, not sure, but it would be good to be able to rotate/flip it with the keyboard too.
