So this just requires a standard USB to OBD2 connection, huh? We don't need a tactrix cable or anything? Are we able to use a tactrix cable with this?

Well the reflashing method (and the kernel) isn't tied to an interface type, but all the PC code I have so far is targetted at USB-Serial-K line interfaces. That said, it would be pretty easy to re-write the code using the J2534 API.

Small update -- just a proof-of-concept video really

After watching this update I'm very interested. It seems the write speed is very good. I'm currently using a tool that takes approx 15 min to write 512K and about 30 min to write 1024K.

murphys_law - have you tried connecting your ecu/dumping or anything like that with the current releases of nisprog? if you can do that it is not much more difficult to go through this reflash method using fenugrecs kernel. One other cool thing I noticed, you can reflash individual blocks with his kernel. So if you have a block that only contains maps, you can reflash just that one block which cuts down the reflash time even more! very cool IMO

No I haven't. I've got a kkl cable sitting here, but have just been lazy. I guess I need to do a dump with nisprog.
That's a great point that you have and another huge bonus I can see for flashing.

Update - just 10 days left !! Halfway there; huge thanks to the early supporters !

If anyone can think of other places to reach out, please do - every little bit helps !
I'll be out of town for a few days and probably won't be able to do a lot of promoting .

If this helps motivate some : that "Level 1 autokey" stretch goal, the one about automatic s27 / 36 key management ( https://www.crowdsupply.com/nisprog/ref ... -1-autokey ) :
I'll include it in the basic features. In other words, if we just reach the funding goal, I'll add Level 1 anyway !

Fenugrec I couldn't figure out how to send you a PM so thought I would post here. I assume you are the creator of this project?
https://github.com/fenugrec/oj2534-fw

How complete is the J2534 support, does it support SetProgrammingVoltage yet? I am looking for an open source J2534 implementation that I can use to program Ford ECUs which require 18v on OBD2 pin 13 during the flash process and I'd be interesting in contributing to it.

What "cannot be done" ? Reflashing through the K line works of course, and it's been done.

If you really want to help, head over to

only 2 days left, guys ! Tell your friends !

Ill get over and support the cause.

I have a hitachi 64F7055F40 running a vq25det in my nm35 stagea with canbus with obd2 plug but does not run a complete obd2 protocol its a 2002. Been toying with idea for a while about getting into ecu but no support from the community as it had already been tried and could not be done. Mind you the attenpt was made in 2008

Easily flashable through Kline I bet. Same ecu I have been flashing.

In 2008 it was readable thru AUD port and routinely writable in bootmode.
Currently you may read this ecu via k-line by Fenugrec free software as well.
And support his reflash kernel devopment project for OBD reflash.
