Interesting. The 41.2 auto/manual bins are different so I would have thought it would just "come with the package". Good to know for those running into that damn Egs code.

Ya, and I did the coding correctly (including reset adaptations), and Tool32 job "ecu_config" even stated "EGS_VORHANDEN=0" (stock auto is "EGS_VORHANDEN=1"), and still had the EGS timeout error come up, until I changed Byte 5.

I suspect it might be possible to force MS41.0 & 41.1 to manual using this method, maybe without regard to adaptations?
Normal method is to code car to manual, and resetting adaptations. At adaptations reset, the *synced* ews will make the DME manual, and Tool32 job " ecu_config" will go to EGS_VORHANDEN = 0.

I want to make an EWS delete using Romraider.
I did read the control bits viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11140
Attached is the original full file from the MS41 BMW 520i Euro.
When open the file, control bits byte 8 you see the decimal value 7.
Then i use the windows calculator en make Bin 10000111, is this ok?
Attachment:

For EWS delete bit 7 should be made to 1. But it is already 1 in the original file.
Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong?
ThankS

Sounds like ews is already deleted. If you're removing the ews module, you need to jump the starter wires.

It is not done in the original file,it is 7 Decimal so your bit 7 is 0.The correct value is 135 Decimal and better make the ews delete in a partitial read file.I always leave the fullreads untouched.

Doing it in the fullread  sounds like a nice way to brick your ECU. There is very little the full read is ever used for.

I do not understand it completly. I will make the value in partial read file in to 135 and then programm it.
Will report it to you tommorow!

I my calculation.
Bit 7 is 1 and not 0.
10000111
bit76543210

Or is this wrong?

That's right. Just make sure you're looking at byte 8 of the partial of 0x14008 of full.

Open the calculator in win7(the win xp calc doesn't have the programmer options or I cant find it),set it to programmer mode and type 7 decimal value.Underneath the value you will se the bits apear and most commonly the final 3 bits will be 1s.Count the 7th bit and click on it-it will turn from 0 to 1 and the decimal.value will be recalculated instantly. ;-)

For MS41.2 M3 ONLY

Control Byte 5

Manual transmission flash = Decimal 192 (C0h)
Automatic transmission flash = Decimal 235 (EBh)

Found this out the hard way after doing all the correct auto to manual coding on a 98 M3 automatic sedan, and still had the EGS Timeout code in MS41. Edited Control Byte 5 to 192, and it finally went away.
This does not seem to be the same for MS41.1

i have decimal 172 in control byte 5 in all my bins, ms41.2 and ms41.0, stock bins or modded..
my car is manual, it's better with 192?

Probably not 'better' but you can try... Keep in mind you will still have to sync the auto DME to a manual EWS and clear adaptations if you want to convert it to a manual DME. It's not only in the control bytes. And the change I mentioned was only after coding the vehicle properly, US M3 only.
