Hi RR community,

I'm new here (hello!) and will be spending a few weeks ramping up on RR/OpenEcu before I start using them on my 2012 Sti wagon. I'm waiting for a tactrix to arrive anyway so I'm doing my homework now.

I have a few questions already that the FAQ/Getting Started didn't really address and I haven't had a lot of luck trying to find solid info in forums/google search. Hoping you might be able to help...

1- Wideband O2 compatibility: I'm thinking about buying the AEM X-Series UEGO WB (model 30-0300) but in Plugins the only X series listed is the AEM X-Wifi Controller (30-2320). Does the 30-0300 work with any of the supported plugins? E.g. will I be able to log/real-time monitor AFR in RR?

2- RR Correct ECU Definition: If I understand correctly, when I pull a copy of my ROM off the ECU the CALID/ECUID should match one from the stock rom list here correct? And then I just need to is search for the matching ECU definition (ex: AE5K800V), then put it in my ECU definitions folder and add it via Definitions Manager?

Side Q: Also, I found this definition file which seems to be a good match for my STi which had the WQC39 recall flash from the dealer. Assuming this is my CALID on my ECU, should I use this definition instead of those from the stock rom list? Edit: nvm - I realized the links in this list are roms (.hex/.bin) not definitions.

3- ECUFlash definitions: Can anyone confirm if the definitions installed with ECUFlash 1.44 are newer than the 'official' v0.8.3.1g 2012-01 and 32BITBASE updates? I ask because the rommetadata/subaru files that are installed by default have a modified date of 6/11/2014. The 'official' ones look like they haven't been edited since around 2008-2011... so is this posting obsolete? E.g. just stick with the definitions that come with the install?

4- ECUFlash correct definitions: Similar to question 2 above - do I just take the matching ECUFlash definition and just drop it into rommetadata/subaru/impreza sti?

Sorry for so many questions and thanks!

not sure about this wideband model, maybe someone else will comment

2- RR Correct ROM: If I understand correctly, when I pull a copy of my ROM off the ECU the CALID/ECUID should match one from the stock rom list here correct? And then I just need to download the matching version from that list, then put it in my ECU definitions folder and add it via Definitions Manager?

sort of. pull your rom from your vehicle and check calibration ID. Then literally with google, search the calibration ID followed by the word "definition" and you should find the romraider definition and/or ecuflash definition. you don't need to download a stock rom, since you have access to it, from your vehicle.

Side Q: Also, I found this rom which seems to be a good match for my STi which had the WQC39 recall flash from the dealer. Assuming this is my CALID on my ECU, should I use this one instead of the one from the stock rom list?

if your calibration ID is the same between a posted rom and your vehicle, you can flash it, but make sure to follow all the notes provided by the person submitting the rom. If you're comparing another rom from a similar engine but has a different calibration ID, then you can copy tables into your rom. One might compare two roms as having identical tables, but one will only flash to a certain ECU, and the other to a different ECU.

3- ECUFlash definitions: Can anyone confirm if the definitions that come with ECUFlash 1.44 are newer than the 'official' v0.8.3.1g 2012-01 and 32BITBASE updates? I ask because the rommetadata/subaru files that are installed by default have a modified date of 6/11/2014. The 'official' ones.

easy way to confirm this is to download a stock rom and try to open it in ecuflash.

4- ECUFlash correct ROM: Similar to question 2 above - do I just take the matching ECUFlash definition and just drop it into rommetadata/subaru/impreza sti?

yep

Sorry for so many questions and thanks!

Thanks for responding so quick Jon. I realized when I read your reply that I had my terminology a little mixed up. Questions updated in OP. I knew in my head I would use my stock ROM, but my question suggested otherwise.

I won't be using anyone elses ROM. I'm working with Eric @ Torqued Performance for an e-tune... I just want to be sure I've got a good setup/definitions files to copy down my stock ROM, load the e-tune, and datalog/monitor.
