I guess it could help, but when you look at tuning time and the functions the ems can bring like what true ems like motec, syvecs, life racing and pectel brings, I wouldnt waste time.
But I can sure understand the need to get that up time and race and such rom would be great. The problem is, is getting the rom loaded. I tried this rom on similar years wrx and it wouldnt even bulge.
So I would just rip the ecu belly our and through in a serious ems pnp board like the syvecs or pectel and be off.

Even in this case where I am using a true EMS, the Group N ROM is quite useful for investigating the clever ways that anti-lag and the intercooler wash algorithms were employed by the factory. It is also helpful for someone learning the differences involved in tuning with a restricted, turbocharged engine. Concerning the autowash and anti-lag, I wanted to replicate the behavior but there are enough threshold variables factored into the GpN routines that the MoTeC unit cannot do this. The ability of the GpN ROM to switch cam control (AVCS) tables under anti-lag conditions are one of a few major differences I've come across. This is all referring to the 16bit GpN ROM, of course - the 08+ ROM is likely similar, but I'm still working through the definitions.

One interesting difference between the GD-series GpN ROM and the GR-series ROM is that the target boost table shows a ~800 RPM faster spool on the GR turbo. The only thing I can think of that would account for this is the variable exhaust cam; especially given the turbo on the GD used a ball-bearing CHRA and the GR didn't get this until 2010+. FIA papers confirm the turbo dimensions were the same... The restrictor size may have gone from 32 mm to 33 mm, but I would expect this to cause a slower spool, as well.
Another difference is that the GR ROM compensates target boost for IAT, while the GD did not (that I can tell). Wastegate duties in both cases have IAT compensation. Alone, that's not a huge surprise, but the GR appears to use 25 deg C as the base temperature for target boost IAT compensation rather than something more reasonable (~65 deg C) - in turn, the entire target boost table is off (high) by ~7.8% if taken at face value.

Under the Syvecs, we could deploy that function as the NOS function for the autowash, but in respect to the AVCS, yes no addition cali to switch, which makes me wonder how important it is. When I tuned the AVCS, I practical makes them the same sometimes. But I do see where you are coming from. With the restrictor, once you know the limiting HP, you will tune to that respect

Been trying and tweaking this rom on a stock JDM 2009 Spec C with no restrictor and I am posting results thus far. Attached is the current tweaked rom and 4th gear wot logs of the same. Working on the boost spike today, but I must say it seems the GrpN AVCS settings give better spool.
There is a snapshot of what I think the SD maf calculation is for reviews and corrections. The log has a superimposed calculation of the same. Logged mass air flow seems to be from the maf sensor, engine load 4-byte from SD calculations. Fuel Temperature is actually Air Charge Temperature.
Added LC logs for SI-Drive Sport and Sport # respectively
Any inputs, feedback most welcome.

Got a 22611ZR000 ecu with a 2008 version of this rom. It runs lean on the so not advisable to use until tables are well defined. Attached is the original copy with a request for definitions. I will upload my IDA dump soon as I have it organized

Intercooler Auto Spray on a 09 Spec C works with this rom and it's stock rom, but I can't get it working with the 22611ZR020 rom I posted earlier, on the same ecu hardware. EDIT I did some logs today and I reckon the tables at 0x61AD4 and 0x61AF0 are final engine load limits (IAT Vs RPM). I reckon too they were the ones causing the lean AFRs irrespective of VE table changes. I have updated the list above for cross-checks.

Attached is my first IDA dump with some possible tables I have found. Many thanks to the authors of the many and very useful IDA howtos in the forums; opened a whole new learning experience for me

OK, we tried this ROM on our racing 2010 STI. But it´s hard to say, what STi we have - It´s an EDM car, but ECU is 22765AB220 - AUDM. Inside of is an Ecutek ROM with ECU ID 5A04786807 and ID inside the ROM on adress 00002000 is LZ1F0000N. Very close to the Group N rom.
The previous owner said, it´s an ECU from a Australian Group N car. So we flashed the Group N ROM. Ignition on - fuel pump runs, but no injector pulse - P1570 - Antenna. BUT - there is no immo in the car. It has got no key - Immo sequence is disabled in the Ecutek ROM. So we must arrange an immobilizer an then we think the car will start and run with the Group N ROM.
Does anybody has an experience with an immo delete ? Sadly we don´t know on what adress in the HEX file is the Immo sequence, so immo disable is impossible for us.

Been running this on my car after several map tweaks and so far so good. My latest IDA dump is attached below. Trying to get to figure out the following; 1. Launch control subroutine. 2. Routine that disables CL Fueling when in Sport# and Sport. 3. A way to monitor and use Intercooler Auto Spray switch. The spray currently works irrespective of switch position.
Pointers will be appreciated.

Hi everyone! I have followed this thread for the last months. A friend of mine recently purchased a group N rally car with the AZ1F000F rom. He turned to me to help him re-tune his car without restrictor, but the definition posted only gives me a few maps that I can play with. I see that there is a lot of information on this rom, but I am not able to use it to compile a useful definition file. If you can help me with an updated version of the definition I would be very grateful! Cheers! EDIT: I have attached a picture of the ECU.
