Hello guys, another rock :D

I found that we can read oil temperature via inpa...

The oil temperature its used mainly for failsafe reasons in our cars and few other things...

Unfortunately we can't read that PID via K-line...I'm not sure but the speedometer have a CAN line (I read this on the MS42 manual) but we can't see the oil temperature via OBC commands too...

So the question is, it's possible to transmit the oil temperature PID via Kline?

Regards, André Brito

Oil temperature is mainly used for calculations of the Vanos model ;-)

oil temp is also on the ibus system, there are modules that can read the oil temp from the oil filling sensor. Pretty neat to have it displayed in my 16:9 radio if i want :)

It's used for more than vanos trust me...

Ibus? Explain me what is that?

If someone needs the oil temp information it can be now seen correctly from the logger using the v5 logger definition for ms42.

And talking about other things that oil temp affects. From this log you can see clearly how the E-thermostat starts to lower the coolant temps after the oil temp reaches the 102 degree setpoint.

So basically those e-thermostat maps with oil temp setpoint act as oil cooler. Pretty neat.

I agree with this...its more an heater...

If you check what happen there is that you acelerate the engine and you are already in default e-thermostat maps so the load goes up on the table and the temperature comes down...i can even say you that the AC its on probably LOL

The min oil temperature its probably another map that is somewhere right? Its the probably the map the trigger the hot and cold vanos maps too...just me...

Well yeah :D First it warms up the oil and then cools engine if necessary to keep temps at desired level.

Blanket statements like this piss me off to no extent.

pazi88 is absolutely correct. The 'oil to coolant' heat exchanger (no matter how little effect it may seem to have) works in both directions.

For a track car, I would adjust this map to start lowering the Oil Temp earlier.

Quote:
a) Engine warm-up
a1) Oil temperature criterion
As long as the oil temperature is still below the threshold C_TOIL_MIN_ECT, the engine
warm-up is considered not to be completed. To reach the operating temperature as quickly
as possible, TCO_SP = C_TCO_SP_TOIL_MIN is set (high value).
