So your cable is device 'ttyUSB0'.
Type: ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0 and this should return a line with permissions and user/group info.
Example: crw-rw---- 1 root uucp 4, 64 2014-11-05 14:53 /dev/ttyS0
You need to make sure your username is in the same group as the cable to be able to read/write via RR Logger. In the above example uucp is the group name.
Your username can be checked with: whoami
Your group access can be checked with: groups
To add your username to a group use: sudo usermod -a -G groupName userName

A touch screen just emulates a mouse, so you would need one that has driver support for Linux.

well you can run windows 10 on it so no reason you can't just run normal romraider with the right size of screen?

pretty sure there's you can get a FTDI kernel module to run the openport on linux, romraider is all java so it will work fine you just need to present it with a device it can use.

If you mean Openport not version 2.0 then it should be seen as a COM port for logging. For the Openport 2.0, you need a Linux compatible driver for it, which I've been working on refining for logging only...

great this thread is still alive. I am on the same boat with pi3+raspbian+romraider....

My issue is cannot connect with ECU. I believe I added the account into the group. But still...

I attached the screenshot of dmesg output. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you.

Your username must be a member of the dialout group. Add it, log out then back in and you should be allowed access the the COM port.

Thank you for the reply. I tried the commend

'sudo usermod -a -G dialout pi'

to add the user to group and reboot the machine. when launch romraider logger, I still cannot select COM port (of course it cannot get connected with ECU). Do I need to assign COM port somehow?

Thank you very much

What does the rr_system.log say?

You did install the correct Java serial library right?

I am using the files from makem's post. I understand that those files are for pi 2 (arm7) with java 8, and pi 3 is arm 8. Will pi 3 backward compatible with pi 2's library file?

Where to find romraider system log please? Played around it a little and did not find it so far.

Thank you very much
