It's a normal motor rather than servo. Boost is controlled by the dawes mbc in the usual way, but you can adjust the dawes from inside the cabin, instead of needing to get out and lift the bonnet.
The switchable versions then let you choose between mbc or wastegate, or between 2 mbcs set at high and low boost settings.
