So I was able to get deceleration backfire/pop/bangs on my euro E36 328i by following pazi's recommendation a few pages back. I can upload my partial if anyone is interested.

However as many have said its only on decel after a few seconds of lifting off throttle and in the 2-4k RPM range.

I was wondering how to get the same effect but for immediate lift off throttle in high RPM.

Why not just change the base ignition map? Or does it switch to the decel tables too quickly?

I dont want to change it and blow anything up... Any thaught appreciated...

You can do it also for main map. But it easily affects normal driving also. Test what works for you.

I done it exactly this way seb after messing many many times with Decel tables and getting nowhere, its actually an easier and more controllable way of doing it. The cells you adjust are never touched upon in normal day to day driving though anyway apart from when off throttle but this is what you want right ! :) . I amended the first two columns from 4000rpm to my highest RPM axis and my amendment was Retard timing 12 Deg , I added .5mg fuel to the same cells in Fuel Injection base aswell..... this works perfect, a slight touch on the throttle between 4Krpm and redline and i have pops, bangs and Flames. its not constant, it happens for around 1 second but this is all i want before it looks and sounds stupid. With these settings i also get random Bangs when up to temp after WOT at high RPM gear change. bare in mind that normal day to day driving is not affected, this method allows it to be controllable, use your accelerator as i describe as an on/off switch for the required effect :) I hope this info helps seb.

Rossi and pazi, thanks for the suggestion - I will try that and make an update on the changes. In the meantime heres a small video to show just some stationary sound with just decel maps modified. Sounds quite nice - considering removing cats but many advise not to.

Please excuse vertical video! Had to stick phone into shoe to keep it held there haha!

Exact same results I had early on in this thread. Didn’t touch the main timing table

I also do not recommend you modify the main timing table for this. It can interfere with proper operation when driving downhill at very light throttle.

It is completely possible to achieve the desired effect by just tuning the Deceleration tables. Looks like some don't fully understand how they work and want to take a shortcut.

perfectly safe amending the Base table.
as for going down hill with light throttle....its great, pops and bangs all day long as you coast downhill providing you tap the throttle, best time to do it actually !

Many refer to RK Tunes Burble/crackle map and he is able to create bangs and flames from WOT @ High Rpm but I am yet to see or hear of anybody here getting heavy pops/bang and flames after WOT @ High rpm and with my base amended along with certain Decelration tables i am able to. If someone can tell me that after WOT @ High RPM they are getting that desired effect with just decel tables amended then i would be more than happy to take that on board.

No shortcut, just another way of doing it.

What exactly are you changing? A few pages ago you say to retard timing to -10 degrees and put fuel at 2.6 above 4100rpm on only lowest load column, however with no changes to decel tables.

Then you have just said retard by 12 degrees and only add 0.5 onto fuel on first TWO load columns? Is this in addition to your modified decel tables.

Decel tables I have modified so far:
Step size (ECT Compensation) highest two temps to 4.0 and 8.0
    Fuel restore above rev limiter
Retarded all timing on Ignition Retard - Decreasing TPS by 20 degrees

I will be testing this out tomorrow so have gone for negative 10 degrees and 1.8 fuel on only first column to be conservative in addition to my modified decel tables.

I have amendments in these tables also but I do not restore fuel , I used to and never got the results I wanted, now tapping the throttle gives me 1-2 seconds worth of crackles and pop and also at wot gear change I get a flash and pop.
I had the issue of nothing happening above 4K after wot like so many others here and never found out any different from anyone else after amending axis and a variety of other tables and this is the only way I got the effect I wanted mate.

If you want to get pops/bangs, you MUST have fuel on. Period. Whether you do it by keeping light throttle or by adjusting the Decel tables to do it completely off throttle, is up to you. I prefer the latter.

I can't believe this is so complicated for some people. You need two things for this effect. Fuel on, and Ignition Timing retarded. You just have to tune the Decel tables so Ignition Timing gets retarded quickly off-throttle, while keeping Fuel on. If you are still having trouble with this, post your logs and your 24KB file so we can help you.

Easiest way of getting rid of the rev-hang in ms41.0 without negative effects just edit the "Ignition retard - Decreasing TPS - Step Size (ECT compensation) to look like this:
This is where the attachment from Pazi's original post was. It shows the table with [-10, 30, 60, 82] temperatures.

On 323i MS41.0 temperatures in this tables are different. [-10, 10, 40, 90] to be exact. Is it okay to change them to match 328i temps, or will that mess up references to this table from other tables? I would like to change them, because 40 degrees Celsius is basically cold engine so I don't want to make drastic changes in that area. 90 degrees Celsius is very warm and I'm afraid coolant temp drops bellow this temp in normal driving conditions (I've never logged that actually). I'm only interested in getting rid of the rev hang, I don't want excessive (beyond stock) exhaust crackling.

Remember it interpolates between values. so 80*C will be very close to 90*C.

I didn't know that, thanks! I've thought that it uses value from the column with highest currently reached value until it hits the next one. Do all tables get interpolated?

I Totally get what you are saying and appreciate the explanation but i really cannot get the effect desired above 4k from WOT @ high rpm, its stupidly become an obsession and when i know tuners out there can do this it makes it all the more frustrating, I tried with fuel restore form 7k and still nothing, infact without fuel restore i atleast got a couple of cracks but with it nothing hence why i went down the route of adding some in base fuel table. I feel i have got it retarding quick enough when coming off WOT throttle ( 89.4 ) and hopefully you will see this hitting -23.6 degree pretty quickly. I have attached log here. I know this silly pop /crackle map is silly to alot but i now feel i have to work it out as its bugging me.

The only reason you experience your pops/cracks and bangs is because the fuel is still on during throttle lift and when you blip the throttle. If there's no fuel, there's nothing to pop. I'm friends with these tuners and I can assure you they're doing nothing that hasn't been documented in this thread already. It's also best to modify these axis manually to be sure your changes stick.
