Hi guys, this upcoming weekend I will be helping my brother with installing some stuff on his 2015 sti which will mostly be an 8cm non HTZ FPRed and supporting mods after which I will be tuning it. Previously this car was your basic stage 2 setup. I need some input/help from others mostly regarding AVCS mapping for this setup. I'm currently using the same AVCS mapping that I used on the stage 2 tune that worked well which I borrowed from one of the maps I found here. Here is the complete mod list that will be going on this car this weekend, and also see the basemap attached that will be worked off of.

2015 sti 40k miles
Stock long block(I and my brother know the risks with running this turbo on a stock block)
Stock ported exhaust manifold with grimmspeed crosspipe
Dont remember the brand but I believe a CNT uppipe 38mm EWG
Tial 38mm EWG
I believe an invidia catless downpipe
Invidia R400 catback
FPRed 8cm non HTZ
FP oil feed line
Takeda cold air intake
FP turbo inlet
Stock intercooler until he gets a front mount
Fuel Injection Clinic 1000cc top feed injectors
IAG tgv delete with phenolic spacers
IAG V3 top feed fuel rails
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
IAG secondary air block off plates
IAG competition series AOS

I never got to do much tuning on this car because after one of the pulls it spun a bearing and we are building the block and adding following to the original mod list:
Darton sleeves
BC I beam rods with 625 fasteners
GSC S2 cams
+1mm gsc intake and exhaust valves
Heads will be ported by me
JE ultra series pistons
Pinned mains
14mm head studs

Forgot to mention this will be ran on 92 octane pump gas.

Well really sad to say that after everything was installed as I was on my second revision the car spun a bearing :-/

Last revision I guess, before the bearing issue is fixed thats a s far as I can get lol.

How are you flashing into 2014+ STi.
Up until I looked today I didn't think anything newer than 2009 was supported

I'm thinking of getting a 2014 and if I can tune it I will be happy.
I've not touched a Subaru tune for a few years. My last was a 2007 STi back in 2012. So I'll have to blow off a few cobwebs.

Replied to your nasioc post, nothing special, tactrix 2.0/ecuflash 1.42/Romraider is what we use.

When you get your car running again pm me or ping us here. this map will not work. Things im noticing


1) Your MAF Scaling is a mess
2) Your CL is set to 0... but your OL map it references basically says... "rich"....
3) you left the timing additive tables... so what you thought you were running for timing you were really running 7-10 degrees more sometimes under boost....
4) your OL map needs work because you shouldn't want to target an AFR that low "even though its not really what that OL number means" from 1.15 load plus... 1.15 is like... im going up a hill and avcs is just starting to kick in..
5) your AVCS maps arent correct. and you didnt set the inverse tables so it can target 0 avcs in bad situations. you want Intake AVCS till you are almost spooled then you want to roll out of that and into Exhaust AVCS
6) your per injector pulse widths are still on. with a red im assuming you went aftermarket...

Report back when you have a working motor but please dont use this rom on your car...

1. Maf scaling was not scaled yet, although according to the wideband readings on the one log I have it was not that far off.

2. Explain more on the OL situation, I just wanted the vehicle to go into open loop as fast as possible as long as it met the open loop conditions.

3. I still use the knock correction advance max tables so that under severe detonation if IAM drops it will reduce timing quickly if those are the tables you are referring too?

4. OL fuel map was set to a static afr for ease of scaling maf, from what I have seen I am not the only one that does this. Once maf was scaled there was no way I was gonna keep it at 10.7 across the board lol.

5. Explain more on inverse tables? I must admit dual avcs is harder to grasp for me than single avcs tuning.

6. Yes FIC 1000, I left them because originally the vehicle was going to be using a stock rail so I didn't wanna mess with the tables. The tables have been zeroed on the actual map that was flashed on the vehicle since the car has IAG fuel rails.


Just so we are clear, this was a map that I flashed on the car as a base map and no where near finished. Do not flash this map on your car even if you have identical mods because it is not done. I started this thread and was gonna post my progress of tuning the setup and post new revisions of the map as I went along but unfortunately didn't get very far.

And also the vehicle spun a bearing not as a result of the base map either, long story short the vehicle has been making a very quiet rod knock sound but was way too quiet compared to any subaru that I have heard that had a spun bearing. So we thought it may have been a faulty timing tensioner or maybe an idler in the timing system. Also didn't make sense that when the car was stage 2 my brother beat on it daily and it had the noise for around 3k miles so we didn't think it was possible to have a partially spun bearing and still be able to drive/abuse the car for that long without the noise getting worse. Well we did the timing belt service during the rest of the install and the noise seemed to be quieter so we sent it, which was a mistake... I'm guessing with the fp red it made just enough power to completely spin the bearing on the third pull, not exactly sure what else could have caused it. None of the pulls that we did had even the slightest knock. Did not have a set of det cans during any of the pulls but no feedback, no fine learning, IAM at 1 during all three pulls.

My 02 WRX for the last few months had been making a slight knocking sound around 4k rpm on light load.

In this s*** video it is barely audible over all the cabin, engine and exhaust noise, but it is there in upper rpms.

Recently it also appeared to manifest sometimes when lugging in 5th gear and that's when I called it quits.
Pulled off the oil pan to inspect the rods and found nothing obviously wrong with them. The tolerances are so tight that by hand you likely won't see it anyway until the bearing has been already spun and hammered. There were some amount of metal flakes in the pan and oil filter though, but not much. The oil in the oil pan also appeared to have some minor glitter in it reflecting the flashlight.
I haven't torn the engine apart yet and not sure I want to.

Needless to say, the swapped in jdm ej207 v7 does not make any strange noises anywhere.

Yeah, sucks when it creeps up on you like that instead of just being straight up obvious. Oh well. I believe my brother may be getting an IAG short block and after its assembled and the vehicle is running I will check back in.

Just a small update on this, the car is still down. Build is in progress. Block is about to be dropped off at the machine shop. I started a build thread on nasioc here: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showth ... ?t=2930929

Once its up and running and broken in I will post the complete map. However after we ditch the FP red on this vehicle we are going to be using the Dimemod patch, or Cobb.
