Just a thought.

A tuning Entity is software that modifies a cars functionality within a specific domain, using a specific methodology for performance gains.

Example:

-WRX/STi ROM Tuning Entity. Offline ROM editing. Flash back needed.

-UTEC (WRX/STi/EVO/350z). Online/Offline UTEC Map editing.

-RamTune WRX/STi. Online/Offline ramtune map editing. Can query ECU for live map data, modify data, write back live. Or offline.

-EVO ROM Tuning Entity. Offline ROM editing. Flash back needed.

-RamTune EVO Online/Offline ramtune map editing. Can query ECU for live map data, modify data, write back live.

-Hydra?

-AEM?

I figure the abstraction from the current WRX ROM tuning domain currently only available in RomRaider will definitely make large strides to supporting the above options. The GUI will only know about modifying double[][] data. Combined with logging this will allow a single set of tools for more computer assisted tuning for all the above.

Just clarifying a goal in my mind. Thanks for listening.

The only problem I see with that is that the current featureset isnt just the WRX/Subaru domain. Minus unsigned bytes and other unforeseen variables, any unencrypted ECU image should be supported. So for any type of communication with the ECU (flashing, logging, live tuning, etc) we can create interfaces. But modifying an image is already covered.

We can add anything to the list :D I'm only working on Utec/WRX Roms related things ;) I hope to make it easier for people to write support for EMS.

Just a snapshot

-Multiple open maps
-Data Smoothing :D, see upper right hand corner of internal frame
-Excel + clipboard copy and paste
+ more

The Tuning Entity interface is getting pretty solid now.

Ok, life is about to get busy again for me. Too busy to complete the rewrite on my own.

This is a call out to get qoncept, drees.. +others that are familiar with the current code base to help get the next release out.

I've done quite a bit towards writing a generic GUI framework to support the concept of tuning entities. I've got about %60 working functionality on the UTEC side of things. I REALLY need some help with all this else we're not going anywhere.

The gui rewrite supports
-cut / paste support for Excel
-non 3d data smoothing
-limited copy and paste between tables
-use of JTables
-etc

All code is checked under the upper case NEWGui package.

Seriously people, what are we going to do with the 5.0 release?

What do we want?

Who can do what?

Being a UTEC user, I'd like my stuff supported, but that requires the tuning entity route. Do people even want to bother?

Things are feeling neglected and stagnant around here, some community help would really be appreciated.

Ive got 3d fixes, txs tuner pro and other wideband sensors to help integrate, utec integration and cant handle rewriting the ROM portion of RomRaider. Someone thats really familiar with the code base would have an easy time coding against my tuning entity interface and have the JTable/data smoothing etc support already available.

If I dont hear from enough people I'll start a new thread and leave it at that.

I'll have time to work again soon, I promise.. :) I do really want the UTEC support and an interface framework is definately in the spirit of things. Copy and paste works in RomRaiderJTable, use that instead of the JTable you're using now. Selection model and everything is good to go in it.

I've been very preoccupied with work on the car because its been neglected for the last year. I need a couple more weeks to get it finished up and then some tuning time and I'll be ready to get to coding again.

Ok, I'll still putz around with the UTEC side of things for a bit, but please sound the alarm of when we should all start banging 5.0 out. I'd really like a peer approach to this.

Huh, you really have an RomRaiderJTable?? I though you were joking, seriously  I'll look for it. In any case, I've learned lots about JTables and JTrees.

I need to get my butt into gear and write some code, but unfortunately the job that pays the bills keeps on getting in the way.

Would it help to scale back 0.5 to just the already-completed infrastructure stuff, with no new features other than that? I mean, maybe it would help restore momentum just to get something stable out the door, and punt new features to 0.5.1.

Just wanted to say that it's pretty awesome the work you have done Tgui, getting the UTEC integrated into RomRaider GUI.

And thanks to everyone else for the work you do as well! :)
