From my understanding both are 32-bit and have nearly, if not an identical ECU. Is it possible to flash a 2004 STi ROM onto a 2004 FXT ECU?

Basically, trying to get a 2004 FXT to use Cobb Flex Fuel CCF in AccessTuner, but it's not supported on the 2004 FXT ROM, but it is supported on the 2004 STi ROM. I have a 2004 STi ECU I can swap over, but if it's as easy as flashing a 2004 STi ROM onto the Forester than it would save me a lot of trouble.

Are you talking about flashing A2ZJ500J in place of A2ZJ500I?

Because I believe that would be fine (I've flashed AE5F301H onto a car that had AE5F301C initially).

You could also get away with flashing A2ZJ700J andA2ZJ710J ;

The 'version' is the second to last three digits of the calibration id. e.g. ABCD123E = version 123 of ABCD.E. A list of known roms is available here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=7591 If so, copy all of your tables to a new stock rom that is supported, and then apply the patch. Before flashing a new version, always use "Test Write" in ECUFlash first!!

I'll bump this since I was doing some testing earlier this month. I have an 04 FXT auto ECU that I've flashed to 04 FXT manual, and 04 sti and back again with no issues. I've also flashed my stock 05 Baja auto to manual and also tried 05 FXT which worked, but obviously had immobilizer where my Baja doesn't. The understanding that I came to was that as long as the first 4 characters of the ROM are the same that you should be able to flash between them with no issues.

When you did this with the Baja ECM, was the car able to start or did it crank no start due to the immob?
