Hi,
First of all, you guys have done an amazing work with the ECU Definitions ! I've spent the last few Weeks reading thru the Forum and learning to modify the .bin Files.
But I might have bricked my ECU while trying to flash the partial .bin File I read from my ECU earlier. This was my first attempt to flash a ECU, just to see, if it will work.

Current Setup :
- Bench Setup with Computer Power Supply
- DIY flashing harness (ECU Pins 26,49,60 +12V, Pin 28
GND, Pin 88 K-line)
- Maxdiag DIAG1 K/DCAN cable
- MS41 Quickflash
- MS41.0 429 861 ECU

When I tried to flash the .bin file, MS41 Quickflash displayed the error message 'out of sync'. Using the forums' search function, I found out that I might have to decrease the latency of my cable in the device manager.
It was previously set to 24ms, changed it now to 1ms.
When I try to flash the ECU now, Quickflash displays the message that 'sw versions do not match'. After reading the ECU again, the created file had a size of 24kB, but was in 'wrong size/format' -> bricked, I guess.

I've ordered a used MS41 now to continue testing.

Have you any advice for me not bricking the next ECU?

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Hi, thank you for your answer.
I just found the problem.
My computer power supply delivered only 10.3 Volts to the ECU. I measured it some time ago and its was fine.
I've hooked everything up to a car battery now and everything works great.

For beginners like me, my best advice is to check the "battery voltage" in the "Live"-tab of Ms41 Quickflash before flashing.

Hello,
I also need help regarding MS41. Maybe bricked but i don't know how.

I just have MPPS v18 cable when I read the 24kb partial in bench.
I made the EWS off as in Youtube video shows calculate (7 to 135 DEC) than calculate the Checksum with online MS41 cheksum tool.
(It resulted the same as wols checksum.)

After write with MPPS I reconnected again and ID + Read the new partial file back, it is the 100% same what I wrote before.
So I thought everything is okay.

Than when I give the ECU to the car mechanic to use it for the Engine conversation I get back it as it is not working just try to rolling but not start. I put it in bench again and than ampers on the DC power supply so the ECU didn't take any power.
Is this a synptom to brick or what can happaned because I read back the file which I write to the ECU and every bit is 100% same.

Thank you very much :)
