sorry bro

while it may be a "16 bit" ECU, it's not the same rom size or compatible ecu type.

Currently no other definitions available for this ECU - seems like a dark horse no one is willing to do .
Many emails to all the hotshot professional tuning companies all over the world return with same "story " Sorry we do not support that ECU.

Rom : 0D42100605
OS ID:A11001A

This vehicle also known as Liberty for the Austrailian market - same ECU as well as the Outback 1999 had same Rom ID and OS ID.

You might have to go standalone.

Thanks for the suggestion - can you confirm more details about standalone - would this be off the shelf OR self made.

As mentioned , ECU tuning companies will not support my vintage.

My only other option is trying the BlueSSM route at a high cost for our currency .
Even though the ECU map is in their software - I still would require additional $100 for one license.

Hi everyone, first time posting here but I've been using CarBerry for a wee while and absolutely love the product of Jason's efforts. Have also had some (actually, a lot of) help from jon7009 on Facebook.

Anyway, Jason, just pointing out that the AVCS maps are flipped for me on a JDM SG5 FXT ECM (factory AR4I300I rom). So for example when I switch them with the Blower switch (not inverted), having the blower ON will run map 1 but blower Off will run map 2, and vice versa for running inverted. Only does this for AVCS as far as I'm aware.

Again, don't know if this affects anyone else and it's a miniscule issue with an easy work around, but just putting it out there if you ever plan on continuing development at any point, or even changing the definition if this is a common issue.

Once again, awesome work! Absolutely a pioneer for the Subaru community.

have you tried a different switch?

move on over to the switches portion of romraider logger and check out the available status switches and their natural 'off' state, and then pick the switch that works for you.

another option is to disconnect the line that does or doesn't ground out the pin on the ECU, and run it to a switch. orient the switch so that down is normal status and so that up is the opposite status.

not all switches start out in a natural state of 0 for the device being considered 'off' and things relating to MAP 1 tables - example would be transmission identifier switch. ECUs between MT and AT being identical, the harness has this pin grounded or not.

in this case, status 1 is when the pin is grounded, and relates to map 1 tables
status 0 is when the pin is open, and relates to Map 2 tables

in order to have the pin circuit open as default, you would need to have inverted switch set and MAP 2 as normal, MAP 1 for when the switch closes the pin's circuit to ground.
if you wanted (for posterity) to have MAP 1 be default, and MAP 2 be with switched, you would keep the switch set to inverted usage in the table and ensure that being grounded is the natural state and opening the circuit from ground is the switched state

For all my switches, I set up the options so that the un-switched natural state is open, in the event of a wiring issue or something, it doesn't run the alternate tables with a potential problem like that.

Anyone using per gear wastegate duty comps with crbry rom?

I’ve never used it before and set my table as such to help with 4th & 5th gear over boost as I tune boost in 3rd.

1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th\6th
6.25 3.125 0.0 -3.125 -3.90625

The calculated gear by the ECU seems to be off at times. For example during my last 3rd gear pull the calculated gear was 6th during the whole pull.

yes, I use per gear on every rom or calibration ID that supports it

in the case that a ROM does not have per gear, I try to find one that is compatible for the ecu application but does have per gear.

under Thresholds there is Gear Determination Thresholds

you need this table from the OEM ROM that your transmission comes from

There is a problem with per gear tables for the reason birdflu mentioned - for some cars, the gear calculation in ECU is not stable at all. Despite a correct Gear Determination Thresholds table. The calculated gear would jump up and down and if you have, say, different per gear WG comps for those two, you get s*** boost control.

Here's what I'm talking about:

This. I wish I could use it, but the oscillations are brutal.

Nice graph!

I’m using the gear determination thresholds from my stock rom which seemed to work ok if I remember correctly with the stock rom tune.

4th and 5th seem more stable then lower gears and yeh as trez0r touched on showing 5th/6th or toggling 4th to 3rd when in 3rd is pulling gate when I don’t want it too, messing with my boost.

The ADM 5 speed has slightly lower ratios in 1st, 2nd & 3rd - 3.166, 1.882 & 1.296 and a 4.444 final drive.

Tried this spreadsheet here and came up with almost identical numbers as the stock rom thresholds, within %1.

https://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtop ... 32&t=13093

I’s there a way of setting it up manually by logging Vehicle Speed Ratio Units in each gear?
or is this just for setting up NLTS speed ratio Units table?

For NLTS to work correctly both tables would have to be dialled in?.... Or am I missing something.

My neutral position switch is enabled on JDM Transmission – NPS inverted

With engine off and ignition on my neutral position switch shows 0 in neutral and 1 in first gear and all other gears.

My calculated gear shows 5 in neutral and 6 when I select 1st gear.

Should I have the NPS enabled on NPS standard?

I just read a post from Jason in the NLTS thread that the NPS should read “1” in neutral.

Since last posting, I've actually had some success on taming down the gear calculation errors.
What I did is recalculated the thresholds not only on available data for given transmission/wheel and tire size, but I adjusted them per logged kph @ rpm. Turned out quite good in the end on the car I tried it on.
There were some significant adjustments needed, here's how the coefficient table turned out which I used to multiply the gearing data for given car configuration which had some wild gear determination fluctuation originally.
1st 1.265126513
2nd 1.263157895
3rd 1.135718342
4th 1.069836553
5th 1.026365348
6th 1

I'll try this on my own car and report back with the steps involved later.

depends on the switch in the transmission

not all JDM transmissions had the inverted switch, but 02/03 wrx didn't so "JDM inverted" isn't necessary for ALL JDM

you can switch the sensor to the other type and flip the NPS standard to whatever

6 is for neutral

5th and 6th gear read as 5, other gears read obviously as their gear if the determination thresholds are good
