Was able to read ROM of my WRX 2006 hawkeye, but I can't open ROM to flash it back to ECU. Any suggestions what to do? today broke my tactrix cabel usb connection, because of the poor solder quality and I really don't want to waste 200 usd again

I have a problem with these specifications:

-Forester S-Turbo 2002 (wrx engine, individual coils)
-FTDI FT232RL VAG COM KKL 409.1 OBD2 KWP2000 ISO9141
-EcuFlash 1.28 with your EcuDefinitions
-Windows 7 Professional 64bits

When reading the ECU, I get this error: "Kernel Get Version"
Why does this happen?
Is it a driver problem? Or of the Forester?

My computer does not read the CD that the cable brought me, but extracting the files from another computer, it does not recognize the drivers

I'm assuming you have connected the green test connectors? Here you can read what needs to be done to get into Test mode. Not sure if your car only has the green connectors, though.

Also, this might be helpful - your ECU might be going into Test mode before it has communicated with EcuFlash.

Yes, green connectores are connected, and white connector are jumped.

If i connect only green blocks, the check engine light blinks continuously. Even if I disconnect a sensor it does the same. I guess the "diagnostic mode" doesn't work.

And my ECU is a supported for romraider...is a A4SE700J (Forester S-Turbo 2002 SADM)

lose terminals are used for testing ABS system, not needed for flashing just join the greens and jump the white flash block and you should be good to go.

Yes, searching well on Google I realized what it was

I'm going to create a new thread asking why my car doesn't go into "diagnostic mode"

I just wanted to add my data point to the list. I was able to read my 2005 USDM Forester XT MT via a cable I bought on eBay a few years ago to mess with my old Mini. The auction is dead now but it was described as "BMW INPA/Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface OBDII Diagnostic Code Reader Clear Scanner"

I used Ecuflash v1.28 initially, but it didn't have definitions for my ECU. I found that by v1.31 they had added the definitions, so I tried that one as well. Worked fine. I haven't tried writing to the ECU yet but I will update this post with that info when I try it.

There are supposedly two copies. The one that comes with a black plate is the "good" copy...

im not sure if the copy version worked or not...

ive bought one back then just for fun/testing purpose... and first thing plugging it in, i've made a mistake of connecting my laptop to internet which automatically doing driver update of the cable (which was mentioned in its manual DO NOT UPDATE DRIVER)... which quickly becomes useless dongle...

$10 goes down the drain.. lol...

The vag com cable works for me...I just had to modify the circuit a bit. But the problem that I have now, and that seems to be recurring in the forum, is logging in WOT

Any one knows if this method will work with a 2004 JDM WRX? There is some risk or brick the ECU while reading?
