I noticed that even if I DO NOT modify my original ROM and I use "Save As" to save a copy of the original ROM, some bytes (0xFFC4C-0xFFC4f) are changed in the saved ROM.

I ASSUME that it's some kind of a metadata to mark that the ROM has been modified, BUT it would be great to know what it actually is.

Reproduce:

* Open stock ROM in ROMRaider
* Use "Save As" to save the ROM to another file
* Diff the 2 binaries to see that the diff is from 0xFFC4C-0xFFC4F

All the best!

It's an edit stamp.

Why do you need to save an unmodified ROM?
It is safe to revert the bytes to FF if desired.

Thanks for the response!

I saved an unmodified ROM just to verify that there is no funky business happening. Being cautious, don't wantu trash my ECU.
After taking a closer look at the hex and the source I figured out that it's the "checksum fix" that happens to be the date/version of the file saved.

Thanks again for taking time to respond!

Sources I used to figure out the "checksum fix":

* http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/ ... mAlgorithm
* RomRider source related to the changes - https://github.com/RomRaider/RomRaider/ ... .java#L326
