The file is saved in the directory starting with System.getenv("HOME").
It seems you have no "HOME" environment variable, set one first then run the read command.

Thanks for your understanding and your time, I tried everything I knew, even tried to find something on the Internet. I do not understand how to set this home folder. Even studied your code, but to no avail. Tell me what needs to be done. I can't figure it out myself. I tried it on different computers, but I'm doing something wrong. I installed the program, launched it, then the logger and added xml, chose CAN nsc. Looked at settings.xml in .Romraider.

In the command window type:
Code:
set HOME=<some_existing_directory_where_you_want_the_file_saved>

example: set HOME=C:\temp

now run the read command.

Thank you so much for your help and your hard work. Set home worked when I selected an existing folder. The program does not create folders.

Correct. It relies on environment variables. What OS are you using that doesn't specific a user home directory in the environment?

Is HOME a different environment variable name in your Locale?

For me it is:
HOME=C:\Users\Dale

In your RomRaider install directory there is a log4J.properties file. It may be in the lib\ sub-directory.
Open the file in a text editor and change the log level on the first line to:
log4j.rootLogger=trace, stdout, file

Save the file and then try your read command again.
The output will contain the lower level Openport 2 read/write commands.
Post that, it may give a hint as to why it is not reading.

The ECU is reporting 7F2322, a NACK (7F) to read (23) with code 22 (conditionsNotCorrect or requestSequenceError).
I'm not sure why as the other commands seem to report as expected.

for this car, reading the full firmware is impossible without a code patch.
