I copied the RomRaider 0.9.2 64-bit build to Program Files, put in a Start menu shortcut to run.bat and gave the shortcut an icon. It launches fine but hangs on "writing file" or something along those lines on close, presumably because of lack of write permissions in its folder.

Does the installer version of RomRaider only need write access to the ".Romraider" folder in the user profile folder? I'm presuming the portable version instead stores these files in its own folder.

Either move the whole RomRaider folder out of the protected "Program Files" directory or move the settings.xml file into the .RomRaider folder.

Great. So even the portable RomRaider knows to look for settings.xml in the .RomRaider folder?

Yes, but first priority is to look for it in the same directory as the application, then the .RomRaider directory.

That worked a treat. Thanks.

Is there a way to stop the 32-bit Java required warning on launch?

The standalone package has the correct Java version included. Did you change the run.bat in a way that it can no longer find it?

No the run.bat hasn't changed at all.

It was just an extracted "RomRaider0.9.2-experimental-amd64-windows.zip" with no other changes other than moving settings.xml to .RomRaider. There isn't a newer version.

New build works. Thanks very much.

It might be worth making sub-version numbers (eg. 0.9.2.1) for the experimental builds. The release page on GitHub shows 10 days ago and same file name so I presumed it's the same file.
