I know I'm likely to be lit on fire for even hinting at this, but TBH Java stinks, being stuck with a 32bit JVM stinks way more (especially on Linux which as largely dropped support for 32Bit stuff, forcing the use of obsolete OS's that can no longer be patched due to being way too old.

I know the undertaking would likely be fugly with a lot of screaming and bitching along the way, but transitioning over to something like C++ (closest to java from my POV) and leveraging opensource Qt feels like a great way to de-shackle us all from Java and it's PAIN. The advantage becomes that is REALLY becomes cross platform with a lot less hoops, it gets a LOT faster, and we're no longer chained to oracle/java.

If any of the core developers who have an open mind towards a move AWAY from java could elaborate on the current blockers (likely drivers for certain interfaces, openport/tactrix, J2534, etc. perhaps we could think about what might be initially needed to EVEN CONSIDER porting over to C++/Qt.

0.9.4 "experimental" 64-bit works perfectly for me

LOL. So RomRaider should be re-written to appeal to the Linux 0.5% or less of users?
