It's had to tell from that log what's going on. All I see are a bunch of timeout writing to the ECU or error device not connected.
When the device is present I see:
15:59:09,660 INFO [Query Manager] - Trying new J2534/ISO9141 connection: Tactrix Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM
15:59:10,120 INFO [Query Manager] - J2534 Version => firmware: 1.17.4869, dll: 1.02.4870 Feb 3 2017 23:36:05, api: 04.04
15:59:10,131 INFO [Query Manager] - J2534/ISO9141 connection initialised
But then timeouts waiting for data.
I also see a number of file not found messages as if you are saving and then deleting the def file out from under the Logger.
Choose a folder for your defs and put them there, then tell the Editor and Logger where you saved them.
I suggest to delete the rr_system.log and reboot the computer.
Plug the cable into the laptop and OBD-II connector.
Start the car or at least ignition on.
Open RR Logger and set the protocol to SSM CAN or K-line, you didn't say which car you are trying to log. Most anything 2007+ supports CAN.
Set the Logging level to TRACE (

The logger should connect and report the ECU ID.
If not, send the rr_system.log.
