Hello everyone,
after hours of surfing the Web it seems I can't find the information I need and I therefore decided to ask for your priceless help.

I need to monitor some values (such as IAM) that generic cheap OBD2 scanners/apps can not read on my car (WRX STI MY17). My understanding is that RR data log can do this, if loaded with a proper csv file mapping ID-metrics. But this will be step 2. I'm stuck at step 1.

My question is: for data log only (no flashing, no tune reading, just logging) what adapter/cable should I purchase? Is Tactrix a must? Can I use cheaper alternatives instead? Can a generic OBD2 bluetooth adapter be used? If not, what shall I purchase?

A huge thank to whoever will help me! It will be really appreciated ;)

Tactrix OpenPort 2 is the preferred cable. If you are monitoring and don't like what you see then you will want to make some tuning changes and then flash them.
You can log (but not flash) with any J2534 or VAG-COM KKL cable.

Thank you!!! That's the answer I needed.
My idea is to check everything is ok with this new car (because it's fun to do it on your own :D ) and to keep it monitored from time to time.
My suspect is this car has been tuned with ecutek. If this is the case, I know I couldn't change the tune... but will I be able at least to log knock/IAM/AFR/etc. with RR?
Many thanks! :)
