I have built an opensource accessport with a raspberry pi and romraider. While the logging functionality is great I see potential for more.
As a basic addition I would really like to drive an led strip as a shift light using data from romraider. I have found java libraries for driving leds, then its as simple as a loop and some if statements to determine color or what have you for the lights. Problem is I only have basic coding knowledge in C++ (currently in second term of 100 level class), and I cant really figure how to pull that data specifically so that I can pass it to a function to run the LEDs.

Thats just a basic thing I'd like to do, but another thing I think would be possible is to use the rpi to drive an intercooler sprayer. If I have the intercooler temp and rpm, I can set my own thresholds for the sprayer and drive a pump using a simple hat for the pi and there you go.

I just see potential to build a really neat piggyback system out of the rpi and romraider, I'm just short on knowledge so if anyone has insight on how to grab specific data IDs from romraider and pass that along to its own function to drive whatever you'd make my day (and my car a good little bit cooler).

TYIA

I hooked into the Data coming from the Logger in this PR: https://github.com/RomRaider/RomRaider/ ... 3ca581a277
You need to register your new Handler in the EcuLogger and you should be able to do whatever you want with the data.

if this ever turns into something further, I am more than interested.

I have developed a double din sized mount for the LattePanda amd64 mini PC, run debian linux, and romraider on it. RPi would be great too. I am an electrical engineer and have PCBA design knowledge. If you come up with software and need electrical help, keep me in your contacts list!!!

I have zero coding experience lol. You have any photos of this jerry rigged FOSSport?

Here is my thread on the forester forums about my carputer:

Cheers
