what bludgod is asking for is the "ROM" or data pulled from the obd2 port under your dash. In order to do this you need a tactrix 2.0 cable. (note: i have tried all of the other fakes of this cable with no sucess; go with the original from their website!)
I also have a 5 speed manual outback 2.5i, although it is a 2007. i was wondering if i could benefit from this post as well (you will see my post a few below) because i also need a definition file.
once you have the cable with ecuflash installed, read from the car and FOLLOW THE PROMPTS. you dont want to destroy your ecu!
