My car has been parked for about 9 years. I put fresh 91 gas and it runs really bad got a flashing check light, I installed my OE wrx ECU and it has the same issue I did not push it. I know I had both ecu's tuned and to be hones it never ran right reason why its ended up parked. I want to do this on my own and figure this out I can handle most tasks..

1. I plan on installing my wide band LM-1 in my down pipe but the bung is a few inches away from the turbo or should i put it on the down pipe where the OE is installed and feed the signal back from the lm-1 back to the ecu? Instructions say 24 inches away but I am thinking of just putting it close to the turbo so I don't introduce any other issues.

2. I know I need to make a log with a 3rd gear pull but the way this sounds and runs I don't want to cause damage. Can I make a log in neutral and at least get an idea of what is going on?

I have read a lot of post and how to make logs connect to my ecu etc and have been able to do some but I did not have a wide-band signal something that I read is a necessity. But like I said it runs bad and I am scared of doing a 3rd gear pull and making a mess. I am attaching a log that I did in natural.

Log 1

Thanks.

yeah the wideband can go behind the turbo at the top of the downpipe - it's not the "ideal" position but does work just fine. The rear o2 location can be handy as well and should give you a very usable reading for tuning with.

if you have a flashing CEL then check for fault codes and also log your per cylinder misfire/cylinder roughness values as this may give you a clue where to look next. I would say get it starting/idling/driving before you try doing full sends in 3rd.

You say you had both ECU's tuned, for this setup or for different setups? With that intake/injectors your tune would need to be specific to your setup so swapping out ecus with different tunes on them isn't going to help you any.

USDM 02 WRX
Current ECU installed in car (USDM 02 WRX A4SGC00C)

Sorry for the long delay got really sick but I'm back at it and I managed to do some things these last few weeks. I have provided links and name of people from the threads that I gathered the information that I have copied here. I also included some logs but they dont have the MAF voltage but if someone can help me figure them out.

Updates
1. Cleaned MAF sensor it was really dirty.
2. Took Intake off replaced gaskets and all the old pvc hoses had an oil leak.
3. Replaced TMIC silicon elbow
4. Installed a new oil pressure and boost gauge, have EGT but not installed yet.
5. Replace all the silicone hoses for the 3 port gm boost controller
5. Wired up the LC1 with gauge.
6. New K&N air filter I need to put wheel liners the old filter was really gross.

I drove the the car for about an 30 min watching WB trying to stay around 14.7 but had some wired numbers when I left off the gas not sure if that is normal, I did log the data and now trying to figure out what I'm looking at. I did have a flashing CEL a few times, I drove it granny style staying off boost. I will attach the log but this car has some issues. Based on a few threads I need to do a MAF re-scale in CL and then I can re-scale my injectors but not 100%. I think my injectors are not setup properly from what I read in another thread. I am still unsure how to use the spread sheet talked about in a few threads so I am going to put a plan together.

1. Do I re-scale MAF first or injectors I don't have my stock injectors? I do have a link on what my values should be for my injectors but they don't match whats in my ROM should I update my tables first?

NSFW mentioned I should A/F Learning # 1 change because of the 5-10 range is useless and helps with tuning and some people left it.

mickeyd2005 says the MAF tuner in RR and his xls is not accurate and has his own process.

1. Change WGDC to all "0" to prevent blowing up engine. Should I also update the (AT) tables too where they are the same as the (MT). When done do I revert my values? or is this another ball game?

2. Change CL/OL delay to half the stock value. Why is this done I can find a reason for it yet will do more reading for a post about it but lost the link will update when I find it. Same question when I'm done do I need to set to my original values or leave it?

[Table2D] CL to OL Delay

This part 3 - 6 I take it is to help with the MAF scaling and then revert to NSFW settings above ?

3. Change AFR Learning d to 70+ g/s and AFR Learning C to 60-70 g/s.
Q1. But what about A/B? Since B would be 10-30 g/s

[Table2D] A/F Learning # 1
Max Range A / Min Range B Max Range B / Min Range C Max Range C / Min Range D
10 60 70

4. Cruise on the freeway at high speed.
5. Change the MAF scale between 70-80 based upon AFR learning D.
6. Change the MAF scale between 60-70 based upon AFR Learning C.
Q1. Steps 5 & 6 require the spreadsheet to do this but that is were im still lost a few versions of it not sure what current one is and how to use it yet.

Keep repeating and dropping AFR Learning range until AFR Learning D is 40+ and AFR Learning C is 30-40. I have found that AFR Learning C between 30-40 is better. It keeps it more stable and allows a better transition into open loop.
Q1 So when I'm done my table should be like this? instead of NSFW settings?

[Table2D] A/F Learning # 1
Max Range A / Min Range B Max Range B / Min Range C Max Range C / Min Range D
10 30 40

But NSFW recommended
[Table2D] A/F Learning # 1
Max Range A / Min Range B Max Range B / Min Range C Max Range C / Min Range D
10 20 40

There is one last step I do and that is to adjust the MRP compensation table but that's a lot more complicated.
Q. What is MRP compensation table

Here is another thread with link to spreadsheet and more info for logging data for this task. Using MickeyD2005's CL scaling spreadsheet:

2a.
How To: Closed Loop MAF Scaling
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=5404

I will used Using MickeyD2005's CL scaling spreadsheet but In the previous thread he said it was not accurate. anyways I will log with the values specified for my logs

4. Once connected, click the "Dashboard" tab, and select the following parameters:

A/F Correction #1 (%)
A/F Learning #1 (%)
A/F Sensor #1 (AFR)
CL/OL Fueling* (status)
Engine Load (Direct)* (g/rev)
Engine Speed (rpm)
Fuel Injector #1 Pulse Width (Direct)* (ms)
Manifold Relative Pressure (psi)
Mass Airflow (g/s)
Mass Airflow Sensor Voltage (V)
Throttle Opening Angle (%)"

1. Pulled ROM from JDM V8 ECU and the USDM WRX ECU. And working on a base map.

Current WRX Map
I did a compare of my current WRX Map with a base map and from what I have read and learned so far I think I got taken. I hope I am wrong but here is what I have found, let me know what you think should this run my car with the current setup? I see no changes in tables like MAF, Boost etc.

2. I have a really custom turbo SZ 55 that I had repaired and I have no clue on what to do to get it setup on my base map. I heard of something called a compressor map but I don't have it but mine was changed and this video explains what was done to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwhA3zLyUkU

Thanks

Cleaning the MAF, what most people do here is actually they are just cleaning the air temp sensor bulb not the MAF part as its up inside the maf housing. Personally if its horribly dirty I would just replace it.

For the manifold, do a leak test and make sure that there is definitely no mystery air sneaking in somewhere. Then you'll be in a position to do some actual tuning - but I'm not sure what you're planning to do with the v8 jdm rom vs your USDM one? To start tuning your turbo in, start at 0% min/max wastegate duty - you'll need to fix your AFR and timing first (by tuning maf and injector settings) then when you can do a complete pull with a good AFR and no knock you'll be ready to start adding in wastegate duty and increasing the boost.

You could use the values from that other post if they are for the same injectors you have - it will only be a starting point anyway as you'll still have to make adjustments for the intake.

I cleaned the wires with a qtip gently with some CRC MAF cleaner then I blasted it out, But I did placed an order for a new MAF. And If you see my update on my last post from today I have a bad feeling I have a really bad tune. I have a smoke machine how much psi should I test this at? I only used it at 5psi on a NA ford, But doubt I have a leak since I changed all the joints. I will be tuning both but starting with the USDM since I live in CA and need it :).
