Hey All,

Does anyone have a good known base for Timing and AVCS Intake advance on the 3.0R?

I've got to tuning mine recently, Factory settings seem to majorly over advance the intake cam and the spark timing is really wavey / spikey in the Main and IAM tables. So far I've got intake cam timing back to about 30* at low rpm high load and it seems to be loving that change. I saw in one of the JDM base maps Subaru didn't push the intake cam much past 15 degrees... I've been told that for other demographics the intake cam was over-advanced for emissions. I also gave the spark tables a quick smooth over and that really helped too. Though I still think the engine is far too advanced ignition timing wise in all the wrong spots. I've never seen the stock IAM higher than 0.75

Thanks in advance for any input on this. Still learning my way around the 3.0R

D2UK001Q has lower stock timing. Which ROM do you have, and which did you find with lower AVCS intake angles please?

Here's an Excel of my cars timing vs D2UK001Q. In this example we view the difference of (Base Timing C + Max Advance Timing B) between the two ROMs.

Hey Ajayel,

It was one of the early 32bit JDM ROMs. I forgot which as I was going through as many as I could at the time and I only recall making the observation. In the JDM ROM the highest values were 20 degrees from memory. Far lower than the 50 degrees of the other EZ30 models. At the moment in my tune I am using about 30 degrees of cam timing at peak and it is working much nicer than stock.

Interesting how much lower your stock timing is, seems Subaru overestimated the quality of fuel in AUS. I also discovered almost all of my knock issue that lead me to ask this question in the first place was a dirty MAF sensor under reporting airflow and making the car run lean in OL.
