Copy that file only to the ECUFlash folder from the download and then point ECUFlash to that folder.
If you did it right, both the patched.bin file you downloaded, and your current rom will both open.
Then you just copy the tables to the patched rom (use the compare roms feature to quickly identify the different tables). okay so now everytime i try flashing the merpmod patch on my car i get a p2433, p2431,p0141and a p0037 cel.... Those looked like air pump and rear o2 codes. Are those codes disabled in your current rom?

has anyone here successfully flashed a merp patched rom from an STi to an SH forester XT with a 4EAT trans? Wondering if the AE5lB500V will work or if a GR WRX merp rom will work for flex fuel, wanted to check here before i went bricking an ECU.

I'm assuming AE5IB40R as it looks like that's the only AT turbo Foz that isn't an AZ1 rom? If so, the AE5IB500V should work, again, just load it into ECUFlash from the OP and do a "compare" flash when connected to the car. If the first two are YES, it should be fine (and recoverable if not). As per OP, if they aren't, conpare the files in a hex editor and check if the only difference is the immobiliser coding (and copy it from your current rom to the patched on). As long as that's the only difference before 002000 then it should be golden. I'm now running AZ1G202G (2011 STi) rom on my AZ1G101M (2009 forester) after changing the immobiliser code.

Oh no! That's a shame to hear. At least the problem can be identified and hopefully fixed. An SH boot cable isn't too had to make up, but many places that offer subaru ecu tuning already have one set up and (for a fee) can unbrick an ecu with a failed flash, so once you get the capacitor replaced it can still be recovered.

I'm setting up a tune for flex fuel in my 04 STI(FXT) and am looking for clarification from someone smarter than I.
I assumed that I would use VE table #2 to be my 100% ethanol table and VE table #1 remains my 91 octane table. To setup the +30% injector/fuel that E85 needs, I would begin by multiplying VE2 by 1.3 and tune it further using SmenTuner's XLSX.
But I see there is a "map blending injector scaling multiplier" table with really large values in it by default, like 2.5x for E85. Wouldn't this turn my injector scaling from 1618 to 4000 and be way too large?
Is the injector scaling an alternate method to using the two VE tables? Or maybe both methods exist for fine-tuning, like use the injector scaling table mainly and then adjust VE2 with small changes as needed.
I just want to make sure I get a good baseline to start with. I have to put 750 break-in miles on the car first before I touch E85, but we just got our first E85 pump in Montana (2 hours away), so I will definitely be running it to unleash this 6266 turbo.
Thanks RomRaiders!

What do you mean by it doesn't give you an option to change it? Those codes are toggles, either enabled or disabled. You need to increase or decrease the cell value (use the [ or the ] keys). I can't recall if they cycle (ie, hitting the left bracket constantly cycles between disabled and enabled) or if they're fixed min/max, so if left bracket [ doesn't work, then right bracket ] should.

The minus and plus keys also toggle it. I didn't realize the square brackets did, too, but I've seen other people fail at this part of ECUFlash, including myself the first time I looked at it. And yes, they do wrap, so you can hit one key over and over to toggle.

Thanks RomRaiders! This is the table I'm talking about. This can't possibly be right for E85, can it?

I swear I replied to your initial post, I know I typed out a reply but must not have hit submit. Yes, that's the table that you want to alter fueling for E85 (injector scaling obviously, you'd use Open Loop Fueling I/S/S# Map 2 for actual fueling). Where are those numbers from? Change them to how you need. ie, E85 needs around 30% more fuel as a baseline, so set it accordingly. I think when I ran E85 I ended up around 1.4 to keep fuel trims the same, and then horizontally interpolated back to 1.00. From memory, the AZ1G101M file was set to defaults (ie, 1.0 across the board), if you wanted to see what the defaults should be.

Quote: Yeah, mine's a manual.
It's gotten better after a bit of driving, but still noticeable (maybe because I'm looking for it).
Going to switch to the Aijmod rom to wrap my head around its functionality, and then look at trying to patch my rom or use a different one to see if it fixes the issue. Hi, To follow up my idling issue, I applied AZ1G202G.MeRpMoD.Switch.Testing.v00.60.d18.1.13.2137.patch to my ROM, directly with Sharptune. I am using it for few hours and the result is really interesting beacause idling issue has completely disappeared. I enclosed my version and definitions if you want to try. My next goal is to apply a patch from Aijii, ideally AZ1G202G.MeRpMoD.Switch.Debug.v01.60.d21.9.17.1401 (with its advanced functionnalities). I got patch, definitions and a Sharptune version from Aijii, but cannot select the patch in the list. Do I have to change something in Shaptune config? Attachment:

So far you're having more luck than me with Sharptune, I can only ever get it show one patch no matter what I do, and if I try to change the mod location it often doesn't show me any... I'm wondering if I'm having so many issues because I'm running Windows 11? I know all of this was originally set up and built for Windows 7... I managed to tune out enough of the issues I was experiencing by adjusting the idle target airflow, tip in, tau and overrun tables. Not perfect but much more manageable. Unfortunately I've now got a HG leak so until I can pull the block out I'm only driv8ng the car as much as is absolutely necessary and no boosting

Always had to use command line to patch stuff. Usually directly from a HEW script. That's how I patch my mods at least.
