In a reply, I was citing a file with extension 'o r i' (with no spaces), but it gets auto-replaced with 'hex', which is both incorrect, misleading, and annoying.

@dschultz do you know what the purpose of this is ? I can't imagine it can be to censor this, and it's certainly not helpful.

Yes the forum has a rule to do that. What does O R I mean?
You could just ZIP the file first (saves on server HD space too).

But why !?

See this post here where I discovered this 'feature'
viewtopic.php?p=173543#p173543

and if you can, view my post's source. I was quoting a command I ran, on a file someone had uploaded with that arbitrary extension (yes, it was zipped, although this is beside the point).

Here, I'll type those three letters O R I without the spaces : .ori
so is this a forbidden word ?

What is an O R I file?
My search indicates it's a high res image file extension.

O r i extension is usually used to mark original file from ECU when tuning.

What does it matter what it is ? why even do a text replacement on the extension ?

Historically, dumps of ROMs have been given extensions of bin or hex. O R I is not a default option for RomRaider or ECUFlash to associate with and open.
I don't think there is such a thing as an 'original' ROM dump, it's just a copy of the loaded tune, which could be stock or otherwise. Calling it original would be like calling the picture of the Mona Lisa you have on the wall "original" ;-)

I can remove the rename.
