Good day everyone. Don't know where should I post this topic, so sorry if it's the wrong page.
Client came for ecu reflash because car is throwing a bunch of DTCs after deleting TGV and air pump. During read process, ecuflash throws error that read is not possible. Ecuflash is able to read VIN and CVN and after that aborts operation. Tried with ecuedit - same problem. Using romraider logger I able to see cal ID.
Apparently ecu is locked from reading, I 100% sure that car was tuned using opensource, as we don't have ecutek or cobb tuners where I live. So I wanted to ask is it possible to unlock ecu and how is it possible to lock ecu read in opensource?
Thank you.

P.S
Car is Subaru Impreza WRX STI GR so flash method is subarucan

it's also possible someone just flashed a locked file onto it and said it was tuned, I've seen that before with mystery files from guys that sell mapping.

the ecu should be unlockable though with SHboot or dime may be able to unlock it when installing a dimemod rom.

As far as I understood, it is possible to create your own flasher with different init code and ecu will be locked only to this flasher, something like ecutek or cobb locks ecus from reading. Probably only way to read it is boot

yes ECUedit supports that on some ECU types as well, but you can still overwrite with a stock file you just can't read the current file. It makes little difference really if the ECU is locked you will have to recover it to standard and then tune it again to suit or go back to the original tuner for an adjustment.

What you can test is FastECU with sh7058_densocan protocol
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ublgG9 ... p=drivesdk

Test with green connectors connected and disconnected.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, I have a 2011 audm wrx sti with a similar issue, also tried to read with pcmflash and get a security validation error. I am hoping that shboot or this fast ecu will work.

Does anyone have a copy of the shboot instructions? When i try open them on the tactrix site it does not work

tactrix site links to openecu for the cable schematic - I've attached a copy of the PDF here for reference but there's a decent guide on NASIOC:
