Hi guys,
As above i have a Bugeye Sti wagon and in Romraider i am seeing huge negative fuel trims. Up to 20% etc

Learning view shows bank 1 -14.99 the rest at 0

Af Sensor #1 current fluctuates between -3.xx ma and 0

Maf reading seems good and goes up and down as expected

So it appears to me that the car is running rich at idle and the ecu is pulling fuel to level it out. I have already replaced the

Lambda sensor for a new genuine Denso DOX-0306

Bypassed the evap solenoid and blocked the pipes to the inlet

Changed Fuel Pressure Regulator for a known good one although i may order a new one

Changed the Maf for known good ones off of good running cars 3 different cars

New intercooler to inlet manifold hose as it needed it

Checked the Maf scaling in the map to check that the car had not been mapped with a cone filter and it removed. (Same as standard map within reason)

Compared map to a standard one and they are the same although i suspect the one listed is not what its labelled to be as the primary warm up enrichment seems to be different values. (I assume a basic uk fuel alteration upon import could be the difference)

Standard Rom is A4SDA00Q

Changed the intercooler to an Sti one as the car had a wrx one on when i got it.

MODS

K+N Panel filter and the turbo has been changed to a VF34

The last thing i can think of is a leaking injector. I am not saying its not but it seems unlikely on a standard set of sti pinks with only 98 thousand kilometres on.

If there is no more suggestions here i will change them out.

Any thoughts? I am tearing my hair out

how does the front o2 reading compare to the wideband o2 at idle/cruise and whats the a/f readings like on cold start after a reset and just before closed loop is active?

Thanks for the reply Bludgod.

So firstly i'll get the questions out of the way and then add todays antics haha.

The wideband is still installed on my wrx wagon. I plan to move the wideband to the Sti wagon once i have it running right then i will swap exhaust etc etc. So i am not sure what it is tbh. It seems like i may need to look at moving the wideband sooner than i would have liked.

Just to note the car has not been mapped and is running the factory rom at the moment.

Ok so today...

Fitted 4x NGK PFR7b's

The old plugs were Pfr6b's and looked like the below... 3 of the ceramic white and the 4th plug (cylinder 3) the ceramic is a grey ish colour. See picture https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/549 ... f14a_b.jpg

Swapped injector 1 + 3 for other pink injectors. I would have swapped all four but i only had enough seals to do two. 2 full sets are on order.

Changed PCV valve

Changed intercooler recirc valve bolts as they were non factory... more of an annoyance being a 13mm than anything else haha. Changed the recirv valve to manifold pipe as it was not original.

So i have ordered a new fuel pressure regulator it should be delivered tomorrow, although i think the one on the car is fine.

Observed the coils fitted to the car are Black coils. They are marked with DIAMOND which i am sure is the OEM manufacturer just like the greys. Not sure if it would be worth swapping the coils for new black ones or for good used grey ones to try that? I believe the dwell time is different between the grey and blacks so its probably not a great idea.

The injectors that came out had what look like pintle caps.... Surely those are meant to be removed before installation. Either way i cannot see them causing a rich condition. Lean if any. See picture of the black cap https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/549 ... 30b0_b.jpg

Last picture is Learning view so from -14.99 it was actually in the 18-20 or more sometimes we are down to -11 which means we are going the right direction. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/549 ... 5d25_b.jpg

So i may try replace the other injectors tomorrow with used seals until the new ones arrive or do i just bite the bullet and buy 4 new at £138 each

Weirdly after todays plugs and injector swap the idle is now 900 not 700.

The evap solenoid is still plugged in but all the pipes to the manifold are blanked off. Tomorrow my new pipes and T / reducer should arrive to reinstate that.

Many Thanks
Stevie

Check your fuel pressure regulator. Mine gave up recently, 2002 WRX, vf39, pinks, etc. ran really rich at idle, better when full throttle, but still richer than it should. Installed new OEM FPR and all is good now.

I'll add that my status says "newbie" but I'm not. Bought my WRX new in 2002, I've touched just about every bolt on her! 265,000 miles (425,000 km) of mountain roads, track days and sutocross. I've broken my fair share of parts. :D

So.... haha. I changed the other two injectors and and that resolved the issue. Fuelcorrections ore -0.78 on idle etc. There was either a leaky injector one on each side or i suspect they are fakes. I will be dropping them off to get tested tomorrow. So the over fueling is sorted. Took the car out a drive to see if i now have boost and i do which is nice. However there is still an issue.

The car once warm revs itself up and down in neutral at lights for example. The same can be felt whilst driving on a little throttle and it seems to be there all the way through i think. I did notice when doing a log run that the car bucks ' breaks up between 4-5k revs at full throttle but not half throttle.

So the total list of changed parts so far.
NGK Pfr7bs
Oil
Oil filter
4 injectors
Brand new Fpr
Brand new warlbro 255 fuel pump Intercooler to inlet hose
Pcv valve
All pvc hoses with new
Changed intercooler back to sti one
Recirc valve gasket
Checked intercooler clamps and hose. they are fine.
Removed avcs filters just because, avcs in rom raider is activating fine.
Cleaned iacv with new gasket have one to try swapping in if needs be
Evap solenoid and hosing replaced
K+N panel filter cleaned (not re oiled)
Maf swapped out.
Dox 0306 Lambda sensor new

I took a couple of logs and notice a couple of strange things.

Please see attached logs of 4th gear 3k+ run and learning view pics

Let me know your thoughts
Trying to get the photos listed
