Hello all guys!

First of all I would like to thank you all for the fantastic job of the forum and people who are showing theyre knowledge to noobs like me.
My name is Victor from Spain and I have a 323ti with m50b28 engine, m50 manifold, exhaust and some other mods.

Well, following pazi88 and Crank videos I managed to start changing some values and doing some mods with optimal results.

What I saw is that with my ECU partial read (from 323ti) the definitions available were just a few. Not as the ones I saw in the videos or the ones I get opening stock files from the forum from 328i.

The first problem I've found is that I couldn´t do a full read of my ECU. At the end of the process a message alerted me that the ECU is blocking the read and to contact with my tuner or doing a complete flash.

At this point I decided to go on with a full stock map of the 328i but at the end of the process the ERROR finalizing flash poped out and I was not able putting the original partial maps to solve the problem.

Now the ECU with ignition on is doing a click click click noise and when I attempt to read it seems there is not connection. I suppose is f*** up or you think is possible to recover it.

Anyway I will buy another ECU for playing, wich serial and version do you recommend for mi engine?

Thank you and merry Christmas to all of you.

you need to desolder to unbrick it

get MS41 142986, easier to find

I actually was able to do both a partial read and a full read without any problem. The issue happened to me during a partial flash. The process didn’t complete correctly and after that the ECU started doing the clicking noise with ignition on and I completely lost communication with it, so it was basically bricked.

Did you finally manage to fix yours? If so, how did you solve it?

Happens sometimes, it crashes at around 60-80% and after that it just gives an error that it cannot comunicate with ecu. After that i cant reflash with MS41 Quickflash via obd and i usualy fix it with direct flash with Siemens MS41 Flash Tool_105b (no ident, directly flash partial) or with MS41 Quickflash but in bench setup. No need to desolder.

Sounds like you flashed the incorrect tune to the ecu.

Regarding flashes that have an issue half way through, this is likely a low quality cable in which disabling the fast flashing should work fine.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate the help.

I have MS41 QuickFlash and I’ve already built a bench setup using the following wiring:

From DME to:

26 – Battery (+) → to + and 16 of the OB2

28 – Ground distribution → to ground and 4-5 of the OB2

49 – Ignition switch (+12 V) → to + and 16 of the OB2

60 – Programming voltage → to + and 16 of the OB2

88 – K-line → to 7 of the OB2

Even with this setup, I still can’t establish communication with the ECU on the bench.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to put the MS41 into bench / boot mode, or should this wiring alone be sufficient to connect and flash?
If there is any other method or approach you would recommend to solve this, I’d really appreciate your advice.

Thanks again for your response and any help you can provide.

Boot mode and bench mode is not the same as far as i know. In that bench mode u are simulating the car. Boot mode is accesing the chip. Did u try to write full flash again and then partial with ews removed ? I did so many stupid things like press flash then turn the car on, or turn off the car when flashing :D , it didnt brake.
