Hi everyone. I have a 2005 EDM WRX that needs some tuning.
I cannot read it with ecuflash, so I tried FastECU with mc68hc16y5_02_ecutek protocol, and it worked.
Now I want to write a stock file and use it as a base for tuning.
If I try the test write with the same ecutek protocol it works, but when I try the real write it fails in the erasing process.
I'll upload the error and the file that I read.

Hi,

What version of FastECU do you have?

I see there is some communication problems as answers are indexed wrong...

Error code f4 (be ef 00 01 f4 a2) itself tells that programming voltage is too high... it should be between 11.4-12.6v.

BUT, also in CRC32 check and later it reads wrong bytes from responses. I see the mistake in code and will fix those.

0.1.0-beta.5

Can you test this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oNvzcG ... drive_link

First do "Test write" with ROM you downloaded from ECU and please send me the log output of that test write from folder /Users/<user>/AppData/Local/FastECU/<version>/syslogs. It should be the latest file from that folder.

I have done a "test write" with this version of fastecu, as you said, not a real write.
But the test write worked also before.
FIle attached

Just wanted to see that all values look norrmal. Can you now use "Test write" with that stock ROM?

Well, on the log it looks like everything is now ok, so it should be safe to test real write...

Log attached (I tried multiple times)

Every time you try real write, after flash_enable (0x20) command voltage jumps to 12.7+ which is too high... it should stay between 11.4-12.6v.
Code:
[2026-02-10 14:21:56.280] (II) Programming voltage: 12.7V

While test write with flash_disable (0x21) command, voltage is at it's upper limit 12.62v. Might be some problem with car battery or something.

I have hooked up a voltmeter on the battery, and I'm nowhere near 12.7. The battery by itself, disconnected, is at 12.5v.
Also the program shows a much lower voltage during the process!
I have tried also with headlights on, and made a video for you.

Can you disable the voltage check?

I could, but it takes little time as I can't recompile kernel right now as I have only Linux atm and need to put up dev environment in Windows cause there is no HC16 compiler for Linux, and I use Linux for everything else

Program shows what j2534 adapter tells to it, kernel measures and calculates it from other sources. Of course it is possible to just use larger gap for min/max, maybe I can edit it straight to hex... need to dig sources a bit... maybe later tonight.
