The UI overhaul isn't necessary to RamTune. It actually stretches the timeline because it is unclear what kind of interfaces it will use, who's working on what behind it, and how stable it is (what code is going to be there for a while).

The truth is that the UI would be nice, but it doesn't directly address the lock-ups or freezes. In fact, a new UI needs testing for that exact reason. I think a surgical approach is warranted if the major concern is lock-ups. One where we identify the cause and fix it.

I've detailed some steps that I think can give the project some momentum:

Here is a brief run down of priorities as i see it:

1. LC-1 integration - I wanted to do this and have it completed long ago. Only problem is where is jfitz's java port of the innovate sdk? if we had it it could be done within a reasonable timeframe.
2. RamTune - I have done some preliminary work on this as some have seen in the test release. It doesn't require the new GUI overhaul to complete. Just getting primary fuel and base timing maps working would be a HUGE move forward.
3. Memory leak - yes, it's still there though not as bad as before. I experienced it once after about 3hours on the dyno and 20 or so reflashes the other night.
4. Get a new release out - I have made a few major performance fixes to the current UI. Eg. do you hate it that it takes so long to update large map selections? Gone! now it's much faster. also, pasting values into a map auto updates the coloring now too. There are logger enhancements too of course.
5. Gui overhaul
6. ??

Now I just need to win the lotto so i can quit work and do this fulltime...

kascade, I agree with your list of priorities 100%.

I thought someone somewhere had this... Maybe some just needs to pick up the phone and call up jfitzpat? kascade, have you tried pinging him via PM or email?

What features of RomRaider were you using? Any idea on how many map loads/unloads you did? I can look into this a bit more...

Sweet. :) Care to disclose what you did?

LOL, me too.

I am still thinking that there is definitely enough improvements in the trunk of SVN to build a new release at any time... Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten to finishing up reviewing/testing qoncept's build instructions he sent me a long time ago. :(

You haven't worked with the current GUI code base. Adding ram tune functionality is not trivial.

The new GUI was written to more easily add functionality like Ramtune. I think it would be a waste of time to retrofit ram tune into the current gui. Like I said in the ramtune thread, add ramtune functionality to the new gui and have the new gui act much like the logger as a separate application until the new GUI supports rom editing and all the previously available functionality.
