I have broken the ecu in my 2001 Liberty B4. I was reflashing with ecuflash and the computer i was using to do it hibernated halfway through the reflash. Now i can't reflash anything else onto it. I can start the car and it will only idle, no reponse to the throttle at all.

No CEL either.

Is there anyway to fix this?

With the car started, very rough idle. EcuEdit logger does actually log rpm, fuel injector pulse etc... so the SSM communication is working some.

if the car started the ecu isn't bricked, just try to reflash it again.

for future reference, if this ever happens to anyone else; don't panic, but DON'T TURN THE KEY OFF! the flash protocol, even with a bad image on the rom itself, is still being used from RAM, so as long as you keep power on to the ecu, its still running the old flash and comms stuff. If you turn the car off, you force it to try to read the bad ROM.

just reflash it normally, it should go fine.
(you should disable hibernate, standby, screensavers, and any cpu speed changing programs as well)

strangely .. i noticed there was a new version of ecuflash 1.30 (i was using 1.28). I upgraded and this new version did the denso bootloader lines .. then said opencu is already present and reflashed my ecu.. all fixed

Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear everything went ok. I've had the same issue once before. My suggestion is to ensure your cars battery is healthy and warmed up before flashing.

The same thing happened with my laptop when I flashed my first image to the ECU. When I found out the power cable got unplugged I got the computer back on and I got an error message from EcuFlash saying something like there was an error communicating with the ECU Do Not turn the ignition off but rather try reflashing and the program should resume from where it left off. I did this and it worked fine. But man did my heart sink when I say the laptop flash to a blue screen and go into hibernation. I am glad the computer did not shut completely off.

yeah my computer is hooked up to the car ignition so i turned the ignition off and then on again to reboot the computer. Then i got the message saying i shouldnt turn the ignition off. But the new version of ecuflash recovered from this without any dramas.
