Is there a way to increase the threshold so that the P0340 doesn't trigger as easily? I'm getting an occasional CEL at rpms over 6400rpms and up. The sensor has about 5k miles on it. I replaced it originally for the same code. It's better now but still comes back from time to time. The magnet on the back of the cam pulley might be a little wacked.

Not anything that I've ever seen. You might want to make sure you don't have a ground issue. There are procedures for checking the resistance at the sensor, between the ECU and the sensor, etc. If you need that page from the manual let me know.

EDIT: have you tried replacing the cel with a hex editor? Sometimes that works.

Thanks but I've got theFSM already. I have a feeling it's the magnet on the back of the pulley but you never know. I guess it could be a ground issue. FYI all of the harnesses are new (bulkhead, engine, etc.).

On the hex editor thing, I don't know how to do that yet. I wouldn't know where to start. I tune, not write

You've been a big help though so thanks again.

Its easy. Send me your latest ROM and I can take it out for you. Problem is, on some CELs, people have reported that it doesn't take away the CEL, just the code. Really depends on how Subaru has the logic set up for it. But it is worth a try.
