I've been working on an anonymous ftp uploads that integrate with the current attachment. Once its finished you can just upload via ftp and select the file from a list when you go to post it. This way we'll be able to upload bigger files without phpbb and http in general being finnicky. I'm about half done now but I'm a bit stuck at the moment.
I'm looking at the linux installer now.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but here goes. I haven't seen anyone else report this problem?
I am having trouble with both of the LC-1 RomRaider test releases and the newly released logger definitions. Under the old definitions, I was able to connect to & log ECU and LC-1 simultaneously, no problem. However, using the new defs with either of the test releases causes a failure to connect to the ECU. No matter what, the test releases w/new defs will not connect to the ECU for me. I have tried unplugging LC-1 from laptop entirely, restarted the laptop many times, restarted RomRaider many times, tried all COM ports (even though I know the correct one), etc. Simply won't work for me -- new defs and either test release.
However, I can use the new defs and the last full release version of RomRaider (.4.1b?) that is not LC-1 enabled. The LC-1 was removed from the equation with no effect earlier, but it could somehow be related? I don't know. Works for me -- new defs and last full release.
CN:
Can't use new logger defs with either test release
Can use new logger defs with last full release
What gives

I'm making a number of changes that include checking in the izpack installer package in total.
For example, to build the linux installer:
1) Create the RomRaider.jar
2) Place RomRaider jar in workspace/RomRaider (what you get from subversion)
3) execute "installer/create\ installer\ linux.bat" from within workspace/RomRaider
I have not touched the windows files, and will look at the shortcuts tomorrow evening (for linux that is).

It's quite simple - they are not compatible. To make the new logger def compatible with the new test release just replace the line:
Code: <protocol id="SSM"> with: Code: <protocol id="SSM" baud="4800" databits="8" stopbits="1" parity="0" connect_timeout="2000" send_timeout="55">

I ran the logger with the latest XML files tonight, changed this line, and it worked great. Thanks!

Here is the linux test build + installer.
Please someone test this. I am not confident this will work on all computer. Qoncept was right, its a pain in the arse to get shortcuts working in linux with izpack. To make things work I needed to use a variable "$JAVA_HOME" in the linux-shortcuts.xml. Now, I have this as a path variable as well but believe this is also a valid izpack only variable. I'm not sure how this will play out with someone without the $JAVA_HOME variable and I'm too knackered to be messing with my system vars now. Someone please verify.
Also, I cant for the life of me get shortcuts other than the RomRaider shortcut in the Application pulldown (Ubuntu) This is under gnome. Only when I select the place shortcuts on desktop in the installer options do I see the license, readme and uninstaller shortcuts. Qoncept, I pass the buck to you now with this.
Oh, and I keep getting "No post mode" errors hence the use of mediafire.

edit: qoncept, check out the create linux installer.bat for changes I made. You might want to base your windows installer off of this as I've added lots of jars and renamed things like release notes.txt to release_notes.txt.

Maybe for the 0.4.2b release someone should look at the regional setting issue, if it is maybe an easy fix. If not set to U.S. there a number of issues that crop up due to the swapping of comma (,) with decimal point (.) in some of the non-U.S. regional settings. From what I remember, this impacted the saving of a log file correctly and the editing of maps (as well as the fine/coase increment buttons).

I tested it on my laptop running Ubuntu 7.04, and I was able to install and run the program using nothing but the mouse. Thank you! The launcher added to my desktop works great. It seems to have found where Sun Java was installed on my workstation and added that to the launcher path.
No plugins for the logger were installed though...I had to copy those over to the install directory from another version I had installed.
Also, if you could make a second link to launch the logger directly...this works like a charm:
Code: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.00/jre/bin/java -Djava.library.path=lib -Xmx256M -cp "/home/rich/RomRaider_0.42/RomRaider.jar" RomRaider.logger.ecu.EcuLoggerExec
That would be great. Thanks again!

Eric, were you able to use any variables for writing files? This was something I kept trying to do for file associations in windows, so I could create a batch file and have the installer insert the install path. Never had any luck.

If you mean things like $JAVA_HOME & $INSTALL_PATH, then yes. I did a quick run converting my linux only stuff to windows and everything deployed, though the ubuntu only icons didn't work You should start with what I have.
