Colby Boles of Ecuflash has made great strides in cracking the CANbus ECUs. CANbus is what has prevented us from reading or flashing the 08 WRX/STI and 07/08 FXT/LGT/OBXTs with the current Ecuflash/tactrix combo. Recently, Colby was able to partially read the ROM from an 07 LGT and should have some complete ROMs soon. I was able to take a look at the 07 LGT ROM and I'll describe what I've found, as it relates to tuning, in this thread.
Colby estimates that he'll have the new OpenPort 2.0 cable with CAN support ready in about 2 months. Some of the proposed features of the new cable: * 72Mhz 32-bit processor * USB 2.0 full speed device * Supports all OBD protocols + CAN 2.0 (ISO-15765) + ISO-9141 (also supports dual K line) + J1850 PWM + J1850 VPW * Standalone datalogs to microSD card without laptop * Able to apply GND or 5V-20V to OBD pins 1,3,9,11,12,13 or AUX 2.5mm connector * Able to log from Innovate Motosports 2.5mm data bus * RGB status LEDs
He didn't want me to post up the 07 LGT ROM as it is incomplete, but it was more than enough for me to analyze and determine how different it is from prior years as far as ECU logic. The good news is that the code is very similar (in some cases identical) to the USDM 07 STi, which means for the 07 FXT/LGT/OBXTs at least, it will not require any additional work to add support for them to the definitions once users have the ability to read their ECUs (in fact, I already finished the ECU defs for this new ROM). Hopefully, the 08s will not be drastically different. Colby says he might have an 08 STi local to him that he could possibly get.
The 07 LGT AT ECU has the following notable differences: 1. All new tables unique to the USDM 07 STi are, for the most part, present for the 07 LGT (ex. "Boost Compensation (Intake Temp)"). 2. For Target Boost, Initial and Max Wastegate Duty, the x-axis is no longer throttle position, but is requested torque. That is, it is related to throttle mapping - "Requested Torque (Accelerator Pedal)", not the actual throttle plate position. 3. Some tables are larger (ex. Target Boost 11x15, Initial and Max WGD 15x12) 4. Uses the USDM 07 STi timing logic (4 base timing tables, 4 advance maps), however, the advance A/B logic is bypassed from the factory (same as what I explained earlier was possible with the 07 STi - changing a single constant).
That is pretty much it except for some other minor differences. Note, that I don't mean to say the actual map values are the same or similar between the 07 STi and 07 LGT, just the logic and table assortment. Even the 07 LGT is tuned differently from the 06 LGT from what I remember (not sure if there are any mechanical changes in the 07 LGT). What I did notice was the 07 LGT does have the jacked-up throttle mapping of the 07 STi - it isn't exactly the same, but still bad (see SS below). If you would like to see a particular table from the 07 LGT or whether or not it differs from the prior year, let me know and I can post up a SS in this thread. As soon as Colby has a complete ROM, I'll post it up with some ECU defs.

That's AWESOME that you have the 07 LGT rom.
The new cable sounds great too. Datalogging to a microSD chip will be fantastic.
Do the new CAN OBDII connectors support higher speed logging?

All I have to say is this. I will be the first one to buy the new cable. Colby does awesome work. (You do as well Bill, but that is just a plain fact now) Gabe

Without him, there'd be no Enginuity/RomRaider (and Jared too), or probably Ecuedit and EcuExplorer either.

It will be interesting to see what has changed for the 08 STi, given the issues with the 07 STi.

Hows the SI drive work? Does it just switch throttle/requested torque tables based on switch input?

My protuner friends tell me that the 08 STI tables are exactly the same as the 07 STI and it tunes the same as well. The 07 STI logic is turned on on the 08 STI ROM, at least that is what I have been told.

If so, what are the modes? Yes, the 07 LGT was the first to incorporate SI drive. I believe (could be wrong) that the modes are Intelligent, Sport and Sharp.

Ok, I google'd it: Quote: With "Intelligent" mode selected, the system reduces engine torque and maximum power and switches to a more relaxed throttle response curve. Intelligent mode is an ideal choice for commuting in traffic, for example, where it can also help boost fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent.
In "Sport" mode, the performance of the 2.5 GT spec.B (and other 2007 turbo Legacy and Outback models) is similar to the 2006 model, with quick throttle responses and powerful, linear acceleration.
In "Sport Sharp" mode, SI-Drive modifies the engine's electronic throttle mapping to deliver lightning-quick throttle response and more power sooner. Delivering maximum driving enjoyment, this mode is ideal for tackling twisty roads and for merging or overtaking other vehicles on the highway with confidence.
The target throttle plate position tables are all the same. The requested torque tables are different. Assuming (and that could be a big assumption), that each requested torque table corresponds to the a different SI-Drive mode, then I would guess it would be the following: Sport mode = Requested Torque A Sport sharp = Requested Torque B Intelligent mode = Requested Torque C I would need to someone to log for me to verify, but since I only have this 07 LGT ROM, they would have to already have this revision flashed to their car (ECU ID: 4B12525207 -> you check in the lower right hand corner of RomRaider's logger).

Are there other tables that appear to vary based on what mode the car is in, like target boost, etc.?
