RomRaider is a free, open source application created for viewing, editing and tuning Engine Control Units (ECUs). Coding on RomRaider began in November, 2005, and is now continuing to grow into a full featured tuning suite.

RomRaider is written in Java and uses XML to define ECU versions, meaning it is infinitely extensible and can potentially support any Subaru ECU you can retrieve an image from. Information stored in your ECU (such as timing advance, fueling, boost, etc) may be altered, making your stock ECU nearly as powerful as expensive stand-alone units, better than piggy back units, and potentially have more functionality than commercial software costing in the thousands of dollars. In addition to tuning, RomRaider also offers a very powerful Subaru data logger.

Read more in the FAQ

RomRaider is intended for use only by experienced tuners who understand the consequences. As with any tuning solution, the potential for engine damage is very high when altering your ECUs hard coded values. The use of appropriate equipment (ie, knock sensor, wideband oxygen sensor) is extremely important.

Just double click on RomRaider.jar. If it doesn't work, you need to make sure you have the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment from http://java.sun.com.

Not yet.. I need to make some updates to the code. I haven't had a chance to look in to it very deeply yet but it looks like it's going to take some bigger changes than I first thought. I'll have to take a good look at it before I give an estimate.

Are you going to be adding support for the Mitsubishi EVOs (and other makes/models) to RomRaider in the long term?

I would have thought some of the EVO stuff could be integrated fairly easily as some definitions already exist?

Cheers,
Steve

Yes, people can add Evo definitions, or any other car, whenever they want. I would have thought someone would have done it by now, too. Making definitions isn't my strong point or I would have by now.

I thought about adding EVO defs, but the problem is I don't know hardly anything about tuning them. The only thing I could do is copy over Ecuflash's definitions, but I'm not sure how Colby? would feel about that.

Not the Evos - they are included with Ecuflash. In fact, the support for the Evos "out-of-the-box" in Ecuflash is better than the Subarus.

On evolutionm.net it says: "This software was developed by Colby at Tactrix and Jason at Mynes Performance". I'm assuming that Mynes Performance helped with the Evo definitions, so I don't know his shop would want them copied or not.
