In other news:
I do think I've spotted a few minor issues with VE right after shifting, possibly VE being affected by the turbo's speed and sucking air through the engine, or something with fast changes to MAP, or the AVCS lagging a bit, but it is pretty minor. I'm thinking of finally putting in the dyn_def back into the code on my car to see if that will help a bit. I've started on the 05 STI and 06 STI, honest. They will be released some time this summer at least.

Perhaps I'm experiencing the same thing.
I'm still having idle issues that I haven't been able to completely cure that may be the same issue. I have no other issues other than occasional stuttering. It's too difficult to nail down with logs, even though I've tried.

I can't for the life of me figure out what table to alter, and my obsessive compulsive nature has made my fix "feel" like a hack (raised idle). But it's only me wanting to completely iron out the issue.
Those who drive my car are unaware of this issue whatsoever, as it never happens off idle.

I've finally pinned it down to the following conditions. At idle, the engine doesn't respond to a quick fluctuation at vacuum and the car goes lean for a brief second and then suddenly rich as the trims compensate. The car "sometimes" will die out or the revs will drop if the a/c cycles on and then off again. It's very sporadic when it does occur and isn't consistent, but I do see a quick fluctuation in vacuum occurring.
I've tried playing with the VE table at different vacuum levels at idle, but it appears to be the quick fluctuations and the fact that the car is at a low idle that does the trick.

Does tip in affect idle in any way? On another car, I'd probably do a mechanical fix with an idle set screw and checking the FIAV for the AC, but in this case, I'm wondering if all the parameters are tied together, since the ECU controls idle through the throttle plate and hence thus the tip in applies at idle for things like a/c turn on.

I took great care to only come up with a new way to produce the MAF g/s number so the remainder of the ECU will now know the difference between having a MAF g/s coming from the MAF sensor or an SD calculation.

No doubts, it's much more accurate way. However my idea was not to hack the code, just play with existing tables. Some tricks to simulate SD in MAF based EMS. I wondered if car will even run with these tweaks.

To be true, at first I didn't mind to make MAF scaling absolutely constant. I was thinking about tune that can "switch" from MAF to SD when SD can help. Engine Load Compensation table still very useful. We can raise Engine Load with MAP when MAF freezes at 300g/sec, or tune out rich spots caused by resonance on NA Subarus with ShortRam intakes.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. If you need coffee money to keep you awake - or beer money to help you relax, shoot me a PM. I really appreciate the work you have put into this. I know you aren't looking for a reward. But, you don't have to be looking for one :)

is this the A8DH200Z rom ?

If so woohoo.

If not, anything I can do to smooth the way for that to be done  ?

I've got most of the work done for the A8DH200X (2006 WRX). I should be testing by next week, just need to finish my SHbootmode cable... silly mistake with the stack

Freon, how goes the speed density tuning? Are you happy with the way your patch is working? Any comments on how its behaving? I am just about ready to try your patch out on my 04 sti. My setup is similar to yours except that i have ported heads and cams with 100mm bore.

Freon,

How do I setup my 04 sti rom for speed density? I looked at the base rom you posted, but I couldn't figure out how to view and change the VE table (rpm vs load). Do I need a special definition so I can view and change this table? I need a hint.

Thanks,

Jonathon

You have to add the code posted somewhere in the thread to your current XML file to see it.

Crap, thats what I thought. It's probably not a simple copy and paste either? Could someone patch my xml code for me if I posted it?

It is a simple cut and paste. Worth spending a little time looking at the XML.

Here is the post with the XML required. As long as you are using the 2004 ROM (and thus the addresses are still correct, etc.), this should work.

You might want to change the 14.3 values to whatever the atmospheric pressure is at your location (sea level is 14.696).

Thanks! I will be on my way now to a heavenly speed density tune hopefully.

I just dove into your ASM. Great stuff and very simple. Stagnant thread, but you still deserve kudos :)

I have a Zeitronix WB that logs rpm, manifold pressure, and afr. It logs at a much higher rate than romraider. How do you guys go about comparing logs to deterimne target afr and actual afr? I guess to make this easy, you need to log rpm, manifold pressure, and WB afr and compare this to Romraider's rpm, manifold pressure, and target afr in Open Loop. Then make adjustments based on the percent difference of your WB afr and target afr.

Any comments?
