07 STi here... did the air pump removal but left the solenoid plugged in still... all other air pump components are gone and I used a blockoff plate on th eback of the head.
I have DW 750cc injectors and once the car is warm it idles and drives wonderfully. However I share the same issues as ev8sive explained with his very rich cold start, and I also experience something else which may or may not be related.
I find that on initial cold start my car idles in the 10s, then when it switches to closed loop it goes to 14.7. However I have also found that during this time my base timing is 15 degrees, 0 advance timing, and my total timing is about... 0 degrees. When my coolant temp gauge needle begins to rise so does my timing, until it matches the base timing value. During the period where I am in CL fueling at 14.7 but 0 timing, the car idles pretty rough, with what sounds like a bit of pinging. My timing compensation (coolant) map is stock.
Am I missing something else? I can't find anything that would cause the total timing to be different than my base+advance timing maps. Is it possibly also related to a 'failsafe' mode the car gets thrown into because of the air pump removal?
And was anything concluded with the very rich cold start that was discussed in the first post? Hope we can figure some things out... if there's any other info I can provide just let me know... Bryan

install the recently released ecu and logger defs and log the new parameters "Primary Final Enrichment". Primary Final Enrichment includes warm-up enrichment. If this does not reflect your cold start rich condition, then it is some other unknown enrichment factor (there are quite a few). Not much has been done with idle timing analysis. I would log base and advance timing and see if there's anything unusual outside of idle (in CL and OL).

I don't have the timing problem... What base rom are you using? The rich AFR's I compensate for in startup enrichment. It is not perfect yet, but getting close. -Gabe

I have also mimicked every table for an 02 WRX that has to do with that "style" of injector. That is what DW750's are, recapped and matched 02-05 topfeeds.
