Computers that are set up for European (and some other countries) use a comma instead of a period to indicate the decimal point. When romraider saves the comma separated variable, CSV, files, there is no way to differentiate between a comma used to indicate a different column versus a decimal point.

A while back, I wrote this crude spreadsheet to convert some of the logs that I received from a Polish friend. The spreadsheet needs to know which parameters are integer types. I hard coded the parameter names into the visual basic code.

The spreadsheet assumes that IAM is a floating point number. If you have a 16 bit ecu, you will need to add IAM as a integer type.

The spreadsheet currently doesn't have any error trapping and requires the user to manually go into the code to add more integer type parameters. If enough people find it useful, I might add some more error trapping and then embed it into Airboy's spreadsheet.

To use this spreadsheet.

1. Open the Romraider European CSV in EXCEL.
2. Select ENTIRE table and select COPY.
3. Paste ENTIRE table into the converter spreadsheet.
4. Click the button Run Conversion.

So, all the data that I have from my european csv, are on the first row of data in excel.
I have to paste it to your spreadsheet, in the first row and then press "run conversion"?I assume that I have to enable macros first.
If yes, I do something wrong, because when I press the button, nothing happens.

I'm not sure what you are talking about.

The example I posted is already YOUR data.

Just click on the button.

Do you have macros enabled? The default from Microsoft is to disable macros because there might be a virus in it.

This issue keeps coming up. Excel can import with a number of different "standard" delimiters (my older version has tab, semicolon, space, comma, plus an option for "other"), but RomRaider is hard-coded at comma, regardless of the decimal separator.

Detecting that the decimal separator for the current locale is the same as the field separator and then selecting something else is a simple fix. What would be the most common field separator for files that use the European format decimal separator of comma?

If ppl in europe are going to tune their cars using fee tools, perhaps it is easier for them to simply change their preferences to suit the tools?

In MS Excel, go to options, then advanced and just set the seperators that RomRaider uses.

Also, just customise the current regional settings:
  1. go into "control panel" (Windows XP)
  2. choose "Regional and Language Options",
  3. in the opened tab of the pop-up window (Regional Options tab), click the "Customise" button beside your current set region
  4. in the opened tab of the new pop-up window (Numbers tab), change the "List Seperator" option to a comma , then click apply and then ok to close the window
  5. Click apply and ok to close the original "Regional and Language Options" window

This should set it to save the csv file in the correct format.

I agree with everything said above. This spreadsheet was just a hack so that I could see the logs that someone sent me.

If a JAVA programmer wants to adjust romraider to give it the option to spit out csv or prn or whatever format, please submit it so that everyone can use it.

Your spreadsheet was very usefull to me today, I live in Quebec, Canada (french speaking province) and I forgot to change my regional settings prior to do extended logging. Without your tool I would basically had to redo all the logging.

The macro is much faster if you disable/enable screen updates within the macro code.

Thank you !

The instructions are posted. You overwrite the example data with your own data.

To use this spreadsheet.

1. Open the Romraider European CSV in EXCEL.
2. Select ENTIRE table and select COPY.
3. Paste ENTIRE table into the converter spreadsheet.
4. Click the button Run Conversion.

Did you select all? Or just columns?

In any case, you can just delete the old data. It's just there as an example.
